Wade is a very well rounded high IQ player. He should play some early because he’s got good size and will play above average defense right off the bat. Offensively he’s a pretty good ball handler and passer. He can make plays for others but I think at this point in his career he’s more of a wing. He should earn some time off the bench, probably BJs backup at the 3. I think later in his career he will play some more point guard and be more of a primary ball handler. I just don’t how much the team needs that next year with Caver, Kithcart, and Green at the helm. I would say that the 19 class obviously needs another point guard.. looking forward to seeing how Wade fits, he should transition well.

Good information on Wade. I was told we have offered his team mate, soph Henry Coleman, who was 2nd team all metro.

4 CAA teams, an A10 team and an AAC team all offered 3* Wade. It's not just ODU that thinks he's going to be pretty good. JJ really has stepped up his recruiting. I'm excited to see how all of our recruits pan out. Though I thought that about our sharpshooting freshman last year too.

Scrolling down to the bottom of that linked R T-D page sure makes me smile.

I'm just remembering ODU rolling into RVA and taking their POY in 1979, the POY in 1981, and the POY in 1982. VCU and UR couldn't keep either of them. And I don't think either of those guys were the top targets of their ODU class--maybe West was I thought Grant Robinson was rated higher in that group. I definitely don't think the elder Wade or Facka were top targets and both were very, very high level out of HS. Our recruitment was absolutely rolling back then.

While I think Wade isn't the heir apparent for the PG position. I thought I look at some HS stats. He was very solid at dishing it out in HS. Wade avg 5.5 assist/gm vs Caver's 4.5ast/gm. He was also strong on D, with +3 steals/gm.

This info may not belong here but just as a note of interest, Amanda Bacot, Jason Wade's team mate at Tirinity Espiscopal is transferring to IMG Academy in Florida for his senior year. Bacot is one of the the top recruits in the country so I am not suggesting he was considering us but I wonder if that will influence his team mate Henry Coleman who may be more on our radar. Coleman is a rising junior.

I don't think passing is what will limit Wade from playing point guard. His ball-handling does not look to be strong enough to play point.

Yeah, that's the video I'm basing my opinion off of. He was the primary ball handler on one play outside of a bunch of fast breaks. He didn't appear to be the PG or primary play caller on his high school team. Maybe he's added additional skills during his Senior year that didn't show up on his Junior highlight reel.

The verbal commit screen still shows Assane Ndiaye as being recruited for 2018, by ODU. Does anyone know the status of this? He is the last one left left on ODU site with no verbal showing for any school.

Any word on Dickens's waiver?

We offered back in 2016, he went JuCo. I would guess we still watching him.

I heard that Elbert Robinson was looking reasonably good and in reasonably good shape. Wade looking good also. Dickens has a lot to work on.

Ezikpe is more physically ready and will contribute some. Reece probably needs more development.

Reece with likely redshirt. He needs to put on about 20 lbs.

Yeah, I could see that. I was hoping he would show enough to justify some playing time this year. He could help spread the floor.
