RE: Men's Basketball Recruiting: 2018 - Old Dom Swag - 05-23-2018 02:04 PM Reminds me of Coelby from WKU last year. If he could produce like him then they’ll be alright. RE: Men's Basketball Recruiting: 2018 - ODU True Blue - 05-23-2018 02:05 PM Here's to you Mr. Robinson, Heaven hopes you will stay injury free RE: Men's Basketball Recruiting: 2018 - bit_9 - 05-23-2018 02:05 PM "Robinson’s AAU coach, Lawrence Johns, said LSU “mishandled” Robinson by failing to utilize his strengths as a back-to-the-basket center. “Everybody’s trying to play like the Golden State Warriors,” Johns said. “He’s built for playing inside. “But does he slow you up? No. He’s a big guy that can run.”" That article makes me a bit more optimistic. And comes with a chip on his shoulder. If he doesn't slow us up, thats good. If he does, he better be damn good in the post. Our strength is the backcourt. RE: Men's Basketball Recruiting: 2018 - Mr.BigBlue - 05-23-2018 02:25 PM We have a 7-1 big. He has a lot of work to do to get into shape to play. Great that he has an opportunity to help and get minutes. The question is will he work to earn them. We should all take a wait and see. RE: Men's Basketball Recruiting: 2018 - jumpshooter - 05-23-2018 02:52 PM Is it remotely possible we're still in the market for someone? Not suggesting or hinting. Asking. We need the back-up for this new guy at center, or the better center that this guy is going to back-up. Foul trouble, injury, illness ... we are back to square one if any of those things happen and he was the only reasonable center option. Not suggesting or hinting. Asking. If "this was the guy", then what was the big secret? It's not like he popped up out of the blue here since he has been discussed for several pages now. You could easily have given out some clue such as ... former 5 star player, or - at least seven foot tall, or - from a P5 conference, or - he's played against ODU before, or - a kid from Texas, etc. None of those examples gives the player away if you are scared of losing an informant, but it does lend some bit of credence to your claim of having inside information on this. RE: Men's Basketball Recruiting: 2018 - Gilesfan - 05-23-2018 04:14 PM It was said like 20 pages ago RE: Men's Basketball Recruiting: 2018 - BigBlueMonarch - 05-23-2018 04:26 PM Finally some good news. So what is the new criticism to dump on the coach? RE: Men's Basketball Recruiting: 2018 - ODU BBALL - 05-23-2018 04:33 PM (05-23-2018 04:14 PM)Gilesfan Wrote: It was said like 20 pages ago By you? Then why the question? RE: Men's Basketball Recruiting: 2018 - Old Dominion - 05-23-2018 04:48 PM Lots of "ifs" with this one. Could be a real game changer or just as easily another wasted scholly. No one is talking about his medical issue that cost him a year. I want to know more about that before getting to amped. Big men are notorious for having feet problems. At any rate we've got a big and you can't play 'em if you don't have 'em. No new criticism, just the same old ones: 1. The new guy has to have talent. 2. The coach has to let him USE his talent...not try to mold him into something he's not. 3. He has to get on the floor more than 2 minutes per month. Much of the criticism leveled at Jones is due to his refusal to adapt his style to his players' abilities, and his refusal to let them into games unless they meet his fanatical standard of defense. This commitment, while encouraging, is still a "wait and see" development for me. Even if the kid is great, he needs to get playing time. BTW, I sincerely hope he is great. I truly do. I've loved ODU basketball for more than 30 years. RE: Men's Basketball Recruiting: 2018 - FearTheLion - 05-23-2018 04:57 PM (05-23-2018 04:26 PM)BigBlueMonarch Wrote: Finally some good news. So what is the new criticism to dump on the coach? These are fair concerns. I could certainly see a scenario where we all are struggling by game 15 wondering what it is going to take to get him into the game. That has been a pattern in the past. And I say he should've played Kah more when he had him. We needed his offense badly at the time.
