Mythical notre dame -texas conference - shere khan - 06-07-2016 11:45 AM

They play each other home and away 12 times, have a championship game, then play each other in a new bowl called Teh Delusional bowl. Both teams win the national championship alternating years awarded by the texas cattlemens association and the catholic church, respectively.

Nope. There are too many members in that proposed, mythical conference.

Make it two one school conferences instead. Then, you may just have something.....

This was very witty and up to your normal standards, though. A worthy thread indeed.

Somehow they'd both go 5-7.

RE: Mythical notre dame -texas conference - goofus - 06-07-2016 12:41 PM

Throw in USC, Oregon, Oklahoma, Bama, Georgia, Florida, LSU, Mich, Ohio St, Penn St and split into 3 divisions

West
USC, Oregon, Tex, Ok

North
ND, Mich, Ohio St, Penn St

South
Bama, Georgia, Florida, LSU

I get that, as a Memphis fan, he is pissed that Texas blocked Big 12 expansion and a network.

I also know that he doesn't like ND...I get it, no problem.

But, he starts a thread that is not informational, not predictive, not reasonable speculation...hell, not even unreasonable speculation.

It is just baseless, trolling snark.

Wrong faith with the Henry VIII reference...

Somehow as opposed to 10-3 last year and 39-13 the past four years, I guess?

This is an interesting idea! If Notre Dame is willing is play 5 ACC schools / year, why not form a smaller conference of schools Notre Dame would want to play. I'd say an 8 or 9 team conference with Notre Dame, a couple XII schools, a few ACC schools, and whoever else Notre Dame and Texas would want after GORs expire.

PAC, B1G, and SEC would likely say "no" to an invite.

Perhaps...
Notre Dame
Texas
Oklahoma
Florida St
Miami FL
Georgia Tech
Clemson
Boston College
Pittsburgh

Notre Dame would get 7 conference games in a power conference and get to schedule 5 others (Navy, USC, Stanford, plus 2 others). You also get the RRR.

Wrong faith with the Henry VIII reference...

On 17 October 1521, Pope Leo X declared King Henry VIII the Fidei Defensor or Defender of the Faith. This title was given to honor Henry for his book Defense of the Seven Sacraments which attacked the theology of Martin Luther and was dedicated to Leo.

I can't help it if Leo took the title back.

No, Henry later strayed down the heretical path and is now having his soul shredded by demons in hell for all eternity... :)

No, it is still a football conference, then. A bad, bad thing.

I actually wish there were more independents like a couple decades ago. There just aren't many schools that can financially/competitively pull it off anymore. Most of the ones that could, love the conference life. For the time being, only Notre Dame, BYU, Army, and Navy (prior to AAC) are willing and can pull off independence. Notre Dame is tradition. BYU is holding out. Navy joined. Army maybe should join, but it's not a necessity.

If Henry is burning in hell, I would hope that it is for executing a wife for not bearing a male child, rather than having a falling out with a Pope.

I sure am glad I'm a Calvinist.
