Double check my math, it's late and I'm sorta rushing through this.
HUGE gap between the Independents and the G5

BYU+ARMY: 537137 / 13 games = 41318 avg
AAC: 2,419,994 / 76 games = 31842 avg
MWC: 1,814,910 / 76 games = 23880 avg
CUSA: 1,426521/ 70 games = 20379 avg
SunBelt: 1,101365 / 63 games = 17482 avg
MAC: 1,178268 / 77 games = 15302 avg

More like a huge gap between BYU and the G5. Armys attendance would have been 4rth or 5th in the AAC.

I don't understand the reasoning or relevance of GhentFan's comment. There's no connection between Army and BYU.....or between them and any other programs not included in the P5. The initial past was about conference averages, which auto-eliminates them from the discussion.

While I like the conference we're in, the schools associated with it, and the reasonable fans of those programs; I don't have any false pride or inflated opinion of the AAC....in my average fan's opinion, there's just no reason for GhentFan's comment.

I think the point is the AAC is below something around here in G-5 land. 03-lmfao

Hugely embarrassing year for ECU attendance

RE: 2015 Football Attendance for the G5 Schools - GhentFan - 06-04-2016 10:32 AM

It's really just another way to look at the data.

But,it sounded Pieck was saying that the AAC was separate from the G5 when he said the "other g4".
I couldn't give a damn either way, but a lot of the AAC guys think they are not a part of the second tier football programs.

I'm not an CUSA fanboy and say that the conference ODU is in is equal to the AAC, but I do understand where it falls.

lmao okay i get it now, your post was just about being salty..

1) the independents aren't an entity and how the do individually has zero reflection or correlation to another..
2) secondly you used 2 data points total

your point was silly and completely illogical

and secondly we are clearly not a power conference atleast right now, but saying there is huge separation between those below you doesn't mean im saying we are grouped those above us..

Not sure how accurate the numbers are. I watched several UCF games during their 0-12 run that were in a completely empty Bounce House. No way they averaged 30k butts in seats.

announced attendance are based on tickets sold, not people who actually show up..

ucf likley sold a ton of tickets preseason being a conference favorite and then they sucked and people decided just not to show

Fair comments, GhentFan. I may have been a bit over exuberant in my comments. I'm not sure why there is an obsession here to compare the AAC with CUSA.

We are all a part of the G5. For some I guess it sucks but that does include the AAC. The AAC has a LONG way to go before it will be grouped into the P5. More than likely it would be the P4 before anything like that happens. I'm sure some current AAC schools would make up a part of a new P4 set up.

I'm not making any comparison with CUSA and the AAC. Again, don't care. I'm sure a big part of people comparing the two conferences is that the AAC is a better version of what the CUSA used to be, and it's fun to make fun of what it's become I guess.

I just threw the Army + BYU on there, as they are grouped with us officially. Perhaps I should have labeled them simply independents.

RE: 2015 Football Attendance for the G5 Schools - Chappy - 06-04-2016 04:53 PM

Meh, it's all semantics.

If you're talking about non-autonomy league schools, they are grouped together with us.
If you're talking about the group of five (meaning the schools eligible for the access bowl), they are not grouped together with us.

RE: 2015 Football Attendance for the G5 Schools - GhentFan - 06-04-2016 07:35 PM

AAC is in the same club with CUSA, Sun belt, MW, MAC. Some of the posters seem to forget this.

Well if you consider the AAC distributing at least 400% more than the c-usa, then yeah we are the same. If you consider the only teams under consideration for a P5 invite are AAC members + BYU, then yeah we are equal. If you consider we have 2 major bowls wins since 2014 to 0 with the g4, yeah we are the same.

04-cheers

Yes, every single AAC school is a member of the G5 club, together with every single member of every other G5 league which means reduced money and reduced access to bowls.

In those terms, those factors equate to the "same club", but in terms of name recognition, attendance, budgets, and competitiveness, factors which the AAC has in abundance compared to other members of the club, there is a distinct difference between the AAC and the others.

I'm not debating that at all. I have no clue why so many people on this forum are ready to attack.
There are several teams in the AAC that are not competitive in football.

Tulane comes to mind right away.
Sure they are a fantastic school, but they probably belong with a school such as Rice and others in their own version of the Ivy-League for the south.

OP posted an article, and and made reference about a huge gap between the AAC and the rest of the G5.

Said article did not quantify how much the difference was between the AAC as a whole and the rest. I posted that information and I get jumped on by you guys.

After I read what you guys were saying I became an ass-hat right back. You all need to calm down and not think everything somebody posts that does not support a team from the AAC is an attack on you personally.

As I love to root for the little guy, to ignore the gap between the aac and c-usa isn't being honest. We have recent national championships in both men's and women's hoops. 2 major bowl wins. For multiple weeks we had 4 teams out of 12 in the top 25. We had games on ABC. Wish you guys the best but at least be honest.
