Justin Jenifer transfering? - Flying Bearcat - 04-23-2016 08:47 AM

TFWIW, Justin tweeted this out yesterday. It could be referring to a lot of things, but people are thinking that he is considering transferring.

I think it is a sign of weakness when a guy is already even contemplating leaving after his freshman season. Normally, I would say next man up but this means that we will have few ball handlers on next years team. I also don't have faith that we will pickup somebody that will be able to play next season.

if everything goes according to plan then it will be smooth sailing ?? if not ✌?️ don't have patience anymore . . . In or Out ? ?

I know alot of people were down on his game this year, but I actually liked his potential. Cronin has never had a true PG here once, and I liked his ball handling and passing ability. I actually thought he could be a solid player for us by his jr and Sr year.

Sounds to me more like someone else is transferring. Any other freshman ball handlers (can't think of any)?

hopefully not directed at mick / assistants

RE: Justin Jenifer transfering? - robertfoshizzle - 04-23-2016 11:17 AM

We need Jenifer to give us 10-15 minutes off the bench next season. Without him, Caupain and Evans are the only guys we can depend on to handle the ball.

Is it possible to be a Bearcat fan without getting kicked in the nuts every couple of months? I mean, I get the whole "To be a sports fan in Cincinnati is to suffer" thing, but damn... Every time we get a little momentum going somewhere...BAM...another nut-shot.

I'd rather JJ transfer out after next year but we only need 5-8 minutes since he's backing up an all conference point guard. If he's out then we can probably get those minutes from Evans as a point forward. We would need to find some perimeter help next year though.

Long term I can't blame him for wanting out since we recruited over him and Broome will be in the same class. Id rather he stay for depth but I won't lose any sleep over losing a turnover prone PG who can't score or defend. His best case is a career backup.

If he's leaving, and I don't believe we know that yet, I think it's a loss unless there is yet another incoming backcourt transfer who would have immediate eligibility. The Bearcats would be one season ending injury to Troy away from a complete ball handling disaster. I don't even want to think about that worst case scenario.

In limited minutes, I think many were concerned about turnovers by JJ, but we also saw real potential at times too.

I was at an event with Mick where he said the hardest part of recruiting was after year one when a high school star isn't an immediate college starter and his handlers, friends, and family all tell the player it's anybody's fault but theirs and they should transfer. I'm sure there are plenty of unrealistic expectations leading to poor decisions

He'll prob transfer to an Ohio Valley team and end up ave 20ppg.

RE: Justin Jenifer transfering? - crex043 - 04-24-2016 06:43 PM

Unless someone has any other inside information, JJ's tweet doesn't say enough to even insinuate he's transferring. But it would serve this fan base right if he transferred elsewhere where he'd have more playing time and lit it up.

OVC has as many NCAA tournament wins as UC does under Mick Cronin.

Perhaps he is just going on a diet. He looked like he needed one. He could lose 20 pounds on NutriSystem!
