The first commitment of the Tubby Smith era might be mere hours away.

He mentioned a tweet before it that Tubby's targeting a JUCO PF. For both tweets, it requires a paid subscription to read further.

Barnaba played HS in Minnesota.

Was recruited by Texas Texas while at West Plains JC.

And Tubby and his staff have recruiting Missouri JCs before.

Makes sense.

Offers from Oregon, Texas Tech and Nebraska. Can shoot it. Looks like a good offensive player to come off of the bench. Need Charlie to stay on board and sign a wing.

Go Tigers!

Watched a highlight reel of him. 37% from 3 point range. Looks a little slow, maybe. Never saw him go above the rim.

But he's a big and we need bigs.

Not a completely shabby commit if true.

He's anywhere from 6-7 to 6-9, has good range/touch, and works hard (there's a story out there about his offseason regimen - three workouts a day).

Not bad for a guy probably backing up the PF and C position.

Man he never misses.

Looks like an interesting prospect. Nice to see video of a player doing things beyond dunking. Hit some bombs, mid-range, jump hooks. And he never missed a single shot!

"I think Ngor is the best long-distance shooting (center) in the nation among junior college players," said Missouri State-West Plains coach Yancey Walker, who stepped down at the close of this season. "Ngor grew a lot (in his game) the last two years. He's really developed in a lot of aspects."

He did that by making a new level of commitment to basketball. Barnaba was a starter as a freshman at Missouri-State West Plains. But it was a guard-orientated team and filled with sophomores. Barnaba averaged eight points and four rebounds that season.

But he went into last summer with a burn to get better, much of it knowing his role would greatly expand as a sophomore.

He spent day and night in the Missouri State-West Plains gym, working out with then-assistant and now-interim head coach Chad Van Riessen. Barnaba went at it in shifts of three.

"I'd get up early in the morning and shoot," Barnaba said. "Every day I'd work with coach. I'd also have an afternoon workout, hitting the weights. And then later in the day I'd have another (session), doing individual work on my game.
