Also, Anthony Womack is no longer in the jmu system

Womack still shows up in the JMU Student Directory by searching on his last name from a quick search I just did.

Wow. He loves to hit, and it looks like he breaks on the ball well.

I don't watch a ton of highlights for recruits, but I keep up with the top 25 in the nation and the majority of guys we recruit. For the guys I've seen us recruiting the last 3 years or so, those are some of the best defensive highlights I've seen.

Marshall is going to be a beast in our offense if he comes in humble and works hard.

He will be terrific. The only - and I mean ONLY - rap on his game while in Atlanta was a tendency to put the ball on the ground. He worked on holding the ball differently (think Tiki Barber back in the day with the NY Giants) between his Fr and Soph seasons. He was better this past (Soph) season, but still needs to focus on it. He has excellent speed as you can see from the highlight video you linked. He will have a ton of fun in this offense.

What were the fumble stats for him from one season to the next?

I went to the GT site and couldn't find anything.

How about the words to that rap song? Wow! I like the music but man, how do you come up with words like that? He is no Josh Groban.

Two huge components of this seasons' success: Very few injuries and lack of turnovers. Law of averages is against that happening in tandem every year.

Turnover is frequently related to the players. I think passing wise we should fare well against TO's last year. RB wise we'll be giving more carries to RBs that have fumbled more in the past. If Jimmy could learn to catch by next year he could have a lot of interceptions.

Injuries = crap shoot.

Unless I'm reading this wrong - looks like 2 fumbles each of the past two years?

Here's a story from last spring about Marshall working particularly on ball security in the offseason... http://www.ajc.com/sports/college/marcus-marshall-cleaning-ball-security-issues/9eHuOuI7glXRPswMFMQIBN/

His teammates and he recovered a few of his fumbles his Fr. season. He was better his Soph. season. The work he put in and the technique of carrying the ball higher and tighter paid off.

RE: 2017 FB Recruiting - JMad03 - 01-25-2017 12:33 PM

Our RB's last year were pretty good when it came to protecting the ball. They can only help Marshall in what seems to be a part of the game he's already working hard at improving.

2017 FB Recruiting - Bjmaddy12 - 01-25-2017 04:36 PM

I still believe Trai Sharp is going to be the #1 RB because of his power & Marshall will be the change of pace runner like Cardon was this year. This is all on the assumption Cardon doesn't come back 100%. If he does well I think he gets the nod as #1 RB. Either way our backfield is even deeper than 2004.

RE: 2017 FB Recruiting - JMUNation - 01-25-2017 10:10 PM

Marshall will be the starter. Achilles injuries are tough to recover from. Cardon may be done or have lost a step and be the #3.

JMU has a meeting next Wed where Coach Houston and other coach will go over the players that signed earlier in the day. Cost is $35

The trend at the D1A level is these events are being streamed live via ESPN-3 or online via the school's media outlet (something like MadiZone). It gives bigger exposure out to the masses of fans as well as serves as a nice promotional thing.

And before anybody thinks this is just for the "big boys", when I go to the WatchESPN site, search on Upcoming and then select Feb. 1st (NSD), I see where the following FB programs are streaming their NSD Shows via ESPN-3... Grand Valley State, Monmouth, Ball State and Bowling Green just to name a few.

I don't know if this is anything JMU might consider moving forward, but just a thought...
