The Collat School of Business building and the UAB Police Dept building designs were both approved.

Anyone seen the final designs yet?

Is this standard, or is this another leaf turned over by the BOT?

usually these hires don't line up with meetings and intros/approvals are done by telephone conference call

So, I didn't realize today was a meeting and I'm just now reading the agenda. Did anyone notice that the Board hired Protective as financial advisers to UAB and UAB Health System?

Going over the agenda I can't help but note the wording: "The University of Alabama School of Medicine at UAB" versus "The University of Alabama at
Birmingham School of Health Professions".

Those are both the correct names, no matter how much we might hate it.

Actually, they are being generous by putting "at UAB". The legal name for the School of Medicine as defined by state law (not just decree of the Board) is simply the University of Alabama School of Medicine.

Does anyone else think the business building looks kind of ugly? I mean it's definitely a step up from the BEC, but it just sort of looks...clunky.

The ownership of the SOM has been discussed many times over the years. It should come as no surprise that the system BOT considers all health professional schools to belong to their Crimson campus where they were located until the 1940s.

IF the #Free UAB movement should ever come to be, it is likely the BOT would only release the undergraduate part of UAB while retaining claim of ownership for all health professional schools. Any challenge would be settled in their favor by "their" State Supreme Court.

dont worry when federal investigation show that most of the salary of the governor special lobbyist was paid by the member of the bot ,,,,the composition of the bot will change and UAB will take of business ,,,,,

I think almost all of UAB's buildings look ugly, so kudos to the architecture firm for nailing the aesthetic.

I really want to believe you.

I think if the Feds show up and start investigating, a reasonable course of action would be :

Nuke Montgomery & Tuscaloosa from orbit. It is the only way to be sure.

The FBI is already conducting interviews. The dark money PAC is subject to subpoena. If the donors, amounts, and expenditures are revealed things might get pretty interesting.
