This is based off projecting the 2016 season.

NIU makes it as "last 4 in" with first round game at S. Miss. and then match-up with Alabama.

WMU wins regular season title and gets 14 seed

NIU & BG make it as 16 seed at large teams and Toledo is "First 4 out"

Huskies have some pretty big holes this year, can't remember last time NIU went into a year with this many question marks/weaknesses.

What holes are you referring to?

The entire offense is basically back and the defense is only losing 2-3 guys that mattered.

No doubt you'll have us losing to CMU, WMU and Toledo.

Well ...can't really take issue with predicting a CMU loss lately...

Both lines look pretty thin. That's hard to recover from

Toledo game is up for grabs now since moving to neutral site. WMU is a loss but I would imagine CMU is winnable

WMU or Toledo, either. Since they both out-recruit us year after year with among the best classes in the country, it's eventually gonna happen. Plus, it may seem silly, but we may even give up home field advantage to one of them!

I guess he didn't get the memo about BGSU losing a very good starting QB, a few other ALL MAC players, and their entire coaching staff. Nobody from WMU will get hurt the entire year so injuries wont matter and they are in. These things are so stupid.

Replacing Jordan Lynch wasn't a HUGE question mark for you? The O-line was pretty average at best last year. Ness and Conlon may have been slightly over rated due to who surrounded them all the previous years. I'd expect an improvement this year. QB, RB, WR--all equal or better.

The Defense will miss Ford and Mays. But we thought the secondary would miss Ward, and yet I think that area improved. The D-line is always a question. Since our D-linemen are usually pretty average, replacing them isn't that impossible. Secondary and LB's are solid.

Just worries me to have such big questions on both lines, you are right the defensive line is usually kind of sketchy, but its hard to not feel uneasy with both lines being shaky going into the season. Its a shame too because with the skilled positions NIU has on offense, you could have had a machine with a better, more typically strong NIU o-line.

I guess i'm putting my faith in Carey to get the O-line back in shape. It's such a temperamental position that relies on some sort of mysterious "clicking" for cohesion. But they seem to have the horses in waiting. I think what hurt was the 2013 class(pretty sure)...If I recall correctly, zero O-line stuck from that class. They'd help be that filler between the previous great lines and the young guns in waiting.

The 2013 class only had walk-on linemen, three of them, and they all left within two years.

Tommy Mister, Golloday, Tears, Blake, Bebbe, Turner, and Saffold... There are some major playmakers on next years offense.

No doubt NIU is championship caliber in terms of playmakers but like last year showed, without good line play its a lost cause. This year's team is probably even weaker on the lines than last year which is concerning.

You are correct about the OL. Most important position(s) in college football. Without a good OL, the running and passing games are zilch. Not much left after that. And the OL was one of our big weaknesses last year.
