For the past decade, programs such as Southern Mississippi, Tulane and Houston clung to major status by keeping company with Louisville, Cincinnati and Marquette, the way an overextended businessman might keep up appearances by hanging on to his country club membership.

I would agree that we have been subpar in basketball,which the article was talking about,but FOOTBALL, come on.did not know marquette had a team......We also have won 12 out of the last 16 against the Puppy's :own3d: :own3d: :own3d: :own3d:

There's a reason why MSU, Ole Miss and LSU won't play USM. Check the record and you will learn the answer. I believe it would be closer to the truth that MSU would not fair any better in CUSA than they do in the SEC.

Too bad that Maine has been to the postseason in baseball more than State has. Your arguments never do any good. At least you didn't use the usual, "We might not ever win a game but we are in the SEC and have more fans" which is the high school equivalent of saying I would rather be 0-11 in 5A than win a 4A State Championship.

Your telling us to play a Top 10 team? Sh!t, how many has MSU played in the last 5 years and came close to beating? The sad thing is, MSU and OM fans expect US to play top 10 teams and make fun of us when we lose to them, yet they play the same teams, (most are in their SAME conference, which equals same money, everything) and they still get beat by them, but yet they won't tell you that. That's what is sad.

Oh yeah, when it comes to football, I don't think you will see USM get slammed, I think it would be more like this:
