I'm not trying to start something here, but are you ok with our guys that aren't from the US, or those with a religious reason, to just stand there respectfully, without hands on their hearts? I don't think it is fair for us to expect them to do anything more than that.

I think the Americans on the team should have their hands on their hearts. And they should understand WHY they should have their hands on their hearts. For the others, just be respectful.

Yes...it's called respect.

I just wanted to make sure. As a daughter and wife of veterans, I am likely one of the most patriotic people you will meet. Our kids, when we lived on post, knew how to act during retreat when it was played and we were out, as well as how to behave during ALL kinds of ceremonies, not just the national anthem. I would never dream of forcing more than just a respectful stance for any athlete.

This guy also gets it.

Pretty respectful for a guy from another country, some people from this country could learn a lot from him.

I remember one of the last football games I went to we were playing the Citadel in the dome. There were several girls (college age) leaning over the rail talking to some of our football players. When the National anthem started they all plopped down with sighs and starting talking loudly to each other, making sure everyone noticed them. That was a long long time ago and it still pisses me off when I think about it.
