Serious question about non-renewal of season tickets - BinghamptonNed - 03-04-2016 07:29 PM

How many fans have had season tickets, then dropped them because of the lack of value then repurchased the same level or better tickets a year or more later.

My guess would be that less than 50% that drop will renew later. What is your experience?

Good question

RE: Serious question about non-renewal of season tickets - BinghamptonNed - 03-04-2016 10:12 PM

apparently no body on here knows anybody that let their tickets go then renewed them at a later time.. Maybe my 50% was high 03-weeping

It's 10 times easier keeping an existing customer than it is getting a new customer.

I dropped mine for one year and was able to improve seats when I came back.

No clue, but I think a bunch of us are going to find out.

I've had 4 uppers in the end in the non donation section since they were offered (2nd year in the FEF). I really waffled as to whether or not to renew this past season ($440) but did since I want to keep my place in line for the FEF NCAA 2017 Regional tix the UofM will start selling during this years tourney. Not saying I will or won't renew for next season since I won't have to make that decision until August. All I need is a little hope, a little optimism and I'm back but I understand I don't have near the money riding that many of the lower deck people do.

Sadly, I will be dropping our three plaza level seats for next season. A few Friends dropped their tickets and were able to get midcourt plaza level tickets at face value for every game. There are lots of available lower level seats

I just can't wait until the big donors pull out their financial support for the next coach. I figure we'll get a good hs coach.

They will follow the fans out the door, I guess?

I'm dropping TSF donation in half (still support football), but will drop all 6 lower bowl basketball season tickets as long as Pastner's still coaching here (big time $$$$ saved). I hate doing this because I do love Tiger basketball. Will be back when he's gone, and will probably be able to get my same seats back.

My real question is: how many that drop will renew later?

I'll bet it is less than 50%, once people get used to not having season tickets, it is easy to not buy

I would like to know how many season tickets purchased by corporations and alumni of other school were lost to the Grizzlies. That was bound to happen eventually. What percentage that constitutes of the overall drop, I have no idea, but I am willing to bet it is significant.

If you believe that is a real problem than you are stupid enough to think games being downtown and games being on HD is why attendance gas tanked.

Marketing 201. ITs why you have to can him now while you actually are still selling 11k tickets.

I do indeed believe that competition from the Grizzlies, coupled with the fact that significant numbers of season tickets sold in the past were to corporations and non-alumni individuals with no particular loyalty to UofM is a "real" problem - never said it was the main problem. For that matter, I do also think playing downtown and the ease, economy and convenience of watching on HDTV contribute to some degree. Losing is certainly a major problem, especially for those who love winning more than they love the university. I leave it for others to decide who is stupid.

You're making that decision very easy...

I'm sure my words are heresy to all of you who keep your noses up the Grizzlies ass.

When the Grizzlies start loosing and it will happen. Their fans will stop going to the games and if the Tigers are winning they will start going to their games. That is how fair weather fans are. Being down town has nothing to do with it. It is all about winning.

The use of absolute terms is a sure sign of an immature intellect (and erroneous conjecture).
