Downton Abbey? I know this is on PBS - Tiger46 - 02-17-2016 03:07 PM

but my wife wants to start watching from season one. Is there anywhere to watch this via streaming. I see that you can get it from PBS online and I think someone told me Amazon.

Was hoping it was on Netflix because I would prefer to watch it on TV and not on computer or iPad.

Get a chromecast. You will be able to stream from computer. My daughter and I watch movies from TCM online. She loves the older movies.
We watched Logan's Run last weekend, and The Birds weekend before that.

How would Chromecast work in the event that I have a projector in the media room? Perhaps a receiver that has a usb port?

plug it into your laptop & connect the laptop to either your projectors 15-Pin computer input or if it had a HDMI port.

Also if your DVD/Blu-Ray is networkable that's a possibility from Netflix or others

I saw a Sony networkable DVD/Blu-Ray player on sale at WallyMart for $70.00 recently.

Network-Enabled Blu-ray Disc Player

PBS also has a fee app for your Roku box that has the old shows and new ones a day later IIRC

I have plugged the laptop via HDMI before to watch Tiger football games on ESPN3 via the projector. Hmmm.

I get Netflix and other apps thru my Blue Ray DVD

The best part about that show is the explosive action sequences

It's on Amazon prime.

That would work on a roku stick, Amazon streaming stick, PS3/4, and a ton of smart blueray players.

I use a Roku stick plugged into an HDMI on my receiver, and powered by the USB on the front of the receiver.

How many services are you paying for; Netflix, Vudu, Amazon etc. ?

Amazon Prime (I would have it for the shipping, streaming is a bonus)
Netflix
Dish Network HD only tier on one TV.

My kids watch almost exclusively off of netflix or my plex media server, my wife and I still use the dish.

Plex is the greatest thing ever. I sync to my phone and watch stuff in airplane mode when traveling or sit in my hammock and catch up on shows out in the yard in the spring

So you have a plex pass to use offline content?

Totally worth it. I still have a rooted original Xbox with Xbmc on it in the attic (now that software is known as kodi) so I've been building and setting up media centers for a long time - plex is great.
