Final Five - doss2 - 02-14-2016 08:51 AM

AAC did us no favors.

2/18 @ Tulsa 9PM
Then less than 2 days later with a long return flight
2/20 UConn 4PM
Then nothing for a week
2/27 @ ECU Noon - we never play well at noon
3/3 @UH 9PM
Less than 3 days and a long return flight
3/6 SMU Noon - we never play well at noon

Does not bode well.

Sorry Doss, disagree, I think it gives UC a great chance to add substantially to their resume. What if we played Tulane twice, ECU and UCF. Better play well at noon, lots of Tourney games at that time.

Not talking about who we play but the close timing of several games.

I know, everybody does it. UConn has SMU at home Thurs. then travels to Cincy on Sat. and later they play @ SMU at 9pm on Thurs. and Home on Sunday.

I'm more worried about the collective slump of our 2-3 players than the timing of the games. I know he's not the most popular guy around here but we need Shaq to get back to where he was pre-injury and Cobb to start hitting shots again. I think we saw a hungrier Ellis yesterday than we've ever seen so maybe he sees his career winding down and is ready for that senior push but if we don't get more from the 2-3 it won't matter.

RE: Final Five - BearcatJerry - 02-14-2016 12:28 PM

It's not the conference's job to do anyone "favors."

Besides, true champions see adversity, rise up to it, and make it their motivation to overcome it. I'm tired of using adversity as an excuse for why UC didn't do something. See the adversity, overcome the adversity.

The sore part is that takes heart.

Very well stated. I think Shaq is very important, especially against a team like Tulsa I hope this rest has let the ankle heal properly and that he is ready to go on Thursday.

ESPN is the one who determines the game time not the AAC

RE: Final Five - ctipton - 02-14-2016 04:47 PM

Hate to break this but 2/27 to 3/3 is not 3 days. This is leap year and there is another day in there.

A thread with the title of Final Five and no shot at Xavier in any post????

I'm 100% sure he had something to do with this schedule, trying to stick it to Mick. Poetry.03-lmfao

Those flights aren't that long.

RE: Final Five - CincyBro - 02-15-2016 02:36 PM

2 votes in the AP poll today, Soren Petro, sports radio from 810 in Kansas voted UC 24th.

RE: Final Five - DownOnRohs - 02-18-2016 11:33 AM

I do not have a good feeling about these last 5. We have to play really well and idk if this team is capable of doing that for 5 straight.

Big 12 confirmed right??

RE: Final Five - bcat1997 - 02-18-2016 01:09 PM

I think this game tonight could be the most important of the 5 left. We are ahead of Tulsa in bracketology polls. If they leap us we slip to 4th in this order and I don't think UCONN, Temple, Tulsa, and Cincy get into Tourney.

We are currently last four in and Tulsa next four out

RE: Final Five - Bearcatbdub - 02-18-2016 01:16 PM

I kind of feel like even if this team somehow manages to get into the tournament, they aren't going to beat anyone. They have proven time and again this season they aren't capable of beating a tournament team. On paper, this should have been one of Mick's best squads- for whatever reason they have shown an inability to win close games against good competition. And I don't feel like its necessarily a talent issue, nor is it a coaching issue. I think its partly between the ears and partly dumb luck. Super disappointed but not ready to call for Mick's head just yet. Definitely want to see these guys over achieve next year...

Yes this is a big game for UC tonight. I hope they are ready.
