That high?

RE: Ken Pomeroy: Memphis #92 - HometownTiger - 02-12-2016 10:57 AM

We have one of the weakest NCSOS. We play in 2 bid league, max. We start 2 McD AAs and we still suck...

Yea but if they are indeed 2 McDs players isn't it only fitting they work for a certain employer....

A little over a month ago, Memphis was #71, and had a defense ranked #19. Partner actually commented on the team's success on defense during a couple of interviews at the time.

The offense has actually improved slightly, but the defensive rating has really tanked.

Maybe I should have said that low, as in I think that 92 is generous.

Some teams ranked above us this year:

Evansville
UT Arlington
Chattanooga
William & Mary
Hofstra
UNC Wilmington
St. Bonaventure
James Madison
Akron
Yale
Hawaii
Arkansas Little Rock
Stony Brook

I'd be confident in Memphis losing to all of those teams, with the exceptions of Akron and James Madison.

Stony Brook runs good stuff.

At least we aren't 93.

RE: Ken Pomeroy: Memphis #92 - AlonsoWDC - 02-12-2016 10:34 PM

Correct.

P93 in Ken Pom's rating index is currently occupied by Northwestern.

You know, Northwestern - one of five original DI (1950) programs to have never earned an NCAA Tournament bid.

That's what I call a drought.

Is that near Slippery Rock?

It's much better than our RPI, which has us last of all Tennessee D1 programs.

We have quite a few RPI anchors on our schedule this year. Some of it is bad luck, but the program really needs to be more careful about the small conference teams it schedules.

Or we could just try winning more often...

RE: Ken Pomeroy: Memphis #92 - AlonsoWDC - 02-13-2016 06:33 PM

RPI is just a glorified SOS index.

Winning is only 25% of the RPI. 75% is who you play.
