Imagine what would happen if Josh told Metta World Peace to stop cussing and using the N word.

Tarik might also request a transfer, er trade.

God I wish. I still think he can find a head coaching job and a small basketball school

I believe he said at least once that his dream was the NBA.

Let's hope Phil hires Walton and he gives him a spot...

Made multiple posts that this possibility has legs. JP will be a part of his staff if Walton gets a HC position. I truly believe this will happen...This year.

Has the head coach of a major program ever taken an assistant NBA job? Just curious...

This would obviously be a good situation for all parties, seemingly. But wonder what public perception would be from outsiders.

If Pastner can't lead kids, how can he lead pros?

Wishful thinking, but a terrible idea.

you don't have to lead the pros, just roll out the ball and let them play

It would be great for Coach, he can get fired here, still pull down the 2.6 salary, in addition to whatever salary he gets from his new gig. I heard GP and Caukins discussing this scenario this afternoon.

That's what he does now so it would be an easy transition for him!!

I believe it's going to be more amicable in the end.

They still have the option of letting him coach another year and he'd be miserable.

Yes.

I liken this to a few years ago. Will Coleman was mentioned as a potential assistant coach for Memphis, and the point was raised, "What, exactly, does he have to teach others, except how to be a nice guy?"

If Pastner has a gifted area, it's as a recruiter, and even that can certainly be debated. How does that translate to NBA coaching?

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see this happen. I just don't see it happening.

Use to be. His recruits now are basically JC and transfers, can't even keep the top Memphis kids to stay home and play for the Tigers. And please don't bring up the Lawsons, we all know how that came about.

Yep after the 2013 class all transferred, his days as a recruiter are OVA

Well, as an assistant he just gets to be their buddy again, not their authority figure.

Johnathan Vincent Calipari was an assistant with the 76'ers before he came to Memphis.

Also on the staff as an assistant was Randy Ayers, who had previously been the head coach at tOSU.
