Tough road ahead this week for Trojans - outsideualr - 02-07-2016 11:00 PM

Monroe and Lafayette. If we can get through that unscathed, we're really in good shape to win it all. Of course next week, with the Georgia run, we're still not out of the woods. If we could win those games, I think we might have a chance to be rated pretty high. Let's hope the dream season doesn't turn into a nightmare the next two weeks. Win em all Trojans.04-cheers

There is no way this season could possibly turn into a nightmare no matter what happens in the next couple of weeks. I have not seen the Little Rock fan base this energized or show such signs of growing since the Newell days!

Can't argue with that. But to have this four game stretch, all on the road, against some of the best teams in the league, will be tough to get through unscathed. I'd take 3-1 right now. Well no I wouldn't. I plan for us to win all four games.

4-0 would be fantastic. But 3-1 would be great also. If we can come through the next two weeks still all alone in first place I will feel really good.

True, but it could demote it from a dream season to merely a very good season. Still pretty good.

I'd love to see 25 wins in the regular season. Have we ever done that in the history of our program? I don't think so. This might be the year, with some luck.

I think 26 total wins in a season is the record, done by the 1986-87 NIT Final Four team. But that total includes the wins in the TAAC tournament and the NIT.

The best total overall in regular season might have been the year Shields team won 23, but that also included one from the SBC tournament, or the 1996 team in Fish's senior year. I bet Michaelspappy, MJS, or LRTrojan would know for sure.

But given that this year's team is already at 21 wins with eight to play in the regular season, the 25 win mark is clearly achievable.

If my math and research are correct, it appears that the record for regular season wins is held by the 1988 team at 23 (24 wins less one in the conference tournament). The tie for second place at 22 is 1987, 2009, and, interestingly enough, the 1943 team.

I would think this team can win three out of the last eight for the record.

I was really thinking of this from the time we entered the SBC. We might have achieved this in our DII days, or TAAC.

With 21 wins, and 8 regular season games left, "only" 25 wins would be a major disappointment. Unless you are only counting DI wins. A 6-2 finish, with 5 road games left, would be a tremendous finish in any other season. This year some might view it as "mildly" disappointing, but would pretty much guarantee us the league title and definitely guarantee us a double-bye. I really wouldn't be disappointed with a 6-2 finish since we will be playing arguably 3 of the 4 most talented teams in the league, on the road, as well as a very young team that has showed study improvement (GaSouthern).

We talked records a bit today. 23 wins tie a regular season team record, 26 would be a cumulative season record. 29 wins would actually tie a SBC record, no team has ever reached 30 wins which we have a chance to.

30 wins. That would be something for the ages.

UL and Monroe are a combined 19-0 at home this year. It doesn't get much better in Atlanta at 10-2.
