I just listened to your show. If you think the Tigers only success was under Calipari, then you are either very young or very stupid. Ever heard of Bob Vanatta, Gene Lambert, Gene Bartow, Dana Kirk and Larry Finch? Even Wayne Yates had some success.

All I'm saying is go back and look at their tournament history. The fan base wants Sweet 16s but sans the 5 that were purged from the record books, the program has only been to 6 of them. We might not want that to be the case, but the facts are the facts. They've only made 26 tournament appearances period, you take 6 of those out because they were vacated and you get 20, which 1/5 of those were under Pastner. We've never won a national championship...we've only been to 3 final fours..2 of which were vacated. You can call me stupid all you want, but this program doesn't have the history of being a powerhouse..it just doesn't! You take out the Calipari years (and honestly even including them) overall this program has been mediocre to good on average taking into account their entire body of work. I'm probably one of the biggest Tiger homers there is, but if you take a step back and really think about it, expecting this program to go to the Sweet 16 and beyond every year taking out the Cal years just isn't realistic.

It's pathetic that you bring up vacated wins. All that stuff happened. Just shows you had a lame argument. Have a nice day.

Stupid arguments that anger a fanbase are a good way to get listeners for your wannabe sports show.

True. Didn't hear anyone call in though. Only listened a few minutes. About all I could stand.

If you gotta be polite to garner listeners you have already lost.

RE: Mancave Sports Show Today 1-3PM (Talking Tigers..Please tune in if you get the chance - TigerRoar17 - 02-03-2016 01:32 PM

This is insane. I give the Tigers more coverage than any of these radio shows here in town. Sorry you don't agree with my opinion. If you think what I'm
saying is stupid you are the ones that aren't very smart. Go check the record books. Even counting the ones that are vacated there are several almost decade long gaps that the program didn't even make the tournament. You act like I'm bashing the program. I'm just stating facts.

I still support this basketball program, unlike many of you. I've been a season ticket holder for years Tiger BB & FB. Go to every game and travel. I even cover the Lady Tigers bb team for TSR.com. You coming at me, your coming at the wrong person. Sorry you can't be objective and look at the facts. Also this has nothing to do with my thoughts on Pastner, wether he should be fired or anything. This program has not been consistently elite like a lot of us (me included as I prefaced before) act like it has at times, but it is what is!

RE: Mancave Sports Show Today 1-3PM (Talking Tigers..Please tune in if you get the chance - TigerRoar17 - 02-03-2016 01:54 PM

This program has only been to 11 damn Sweet 16s in 43 years (4 of those under Cal) and only 6 of those counted. If telling the truth "angers the fan base" I don't know what to tell you!

RE: Mancave Sports Show Today 1-3PM (Talking Tigers..Please tune in if you get the chance - TigerRoar17 - 02-03-2016 02:30 PM

If you feel like you can stomach the stupid idiot that doesn't know what he's talking about next Tuesday afternoon I'll be talking Tiger football recruiting class with the best in the business Bryan Moss from TigerSportsReport.com. Coach Norvell will possibly be joining me as well.

RE: Mancave Sports Show Today 1-3PM (Talking Tigers..Please tune in if you get the chance - TiminMem23 - 02-03-2016 03:31 PM

First, let's do some math: 11 Sweet 16s in 43 years is an average of one every four years. Pastner is in year seven at Memphis and is not only trending away from reaching a Sweet 16, he's trending away from reaching the NCAA Tournament altogether. Since 1970, Memphis' longest stretch between Sweet 16s was nine seasons. It looks like that will be surpassed no matter what at this point, even if they fire Pastner this year.

Forget the whole vacated wins argument. It's meaningless. If you want to make the point that Pastner runs a clean program, don't waste your time. No one will refute that. Memphis is not the only program that has had to bend the rules a bit to advance in the tournament and beat ranked teams. Most of us are willing to live with that. We want a relevant program.

Bottom line is that Pastner struggles to beat ranked teams and hasn't reached a Sweet 16. The program is irrelevant even locally at this point. Memphis can do better. Memphis has had a relevant program for parts of every decade since 1970. Memphis can be relevant again.

Don't try to convince us that this is what we are.

That's the thing, I'm not defending Pastner at all. I think it's time for him to go for a myriad of reasons. I just think at times (myself included as I've prefaced many times) might have a little bit of an inflated opinion on what this program should be. Looking back in history, taking out the Cal years, the expectations weren't as high for this program. Cal raised the bar, and now that we've experienced that type of success I think us as a fan base feel like that should be the norm and honestly I feel like that was more of an anomaly.

RE: Mancave Sports Show Today 1-3PM (Talking Tigers..Please tune in if you get the chance - TigerRoar17 - 02-03-2016 04:26 PM

...and I know it might sound like I'm defending Pastner...and in a roundabout way...I guess I might be a little in some aspects...but take the Cal years out of that Sweet 16 average and that number drops significantly. Everyone is jumping on me, and all I'm doing is stating facts and asking a question based on such. As far as my shoe is concerned I just thought Tiger fans would like to hear some Tiger coverage. I've been doing the show for about 2 years now and I've had guests pertaining to the Tigers on every week (Pastner several times/Fuente several times as well as Melissa McFerrin) and beat writers on that cover the teams we are facing. It's an AM sports station that most probably don't run across on a daily basis. Was just trying to ler people know I'm here. If that's "spamming" I sincerely apologize.

Take the Cal years, and it's 7 Sweet 16s in 33 years. That's still a Sweet 16 every five seasons.

I don't think expectations are unrealistic. Expectations are to do better than 5-25 against ranked opponents and to make a run in the tournament every now and again.

Pastner teams are soft, get embarrassed in big games all too often and have no identity other than being ill-prepared.

His win PCT is BS in context.

I agree with you on the Pastner part of it.

Pastner is paying Dedric Lawson's daddy more money than Dana Kirk ever paid Keith Lee; even factoring inflation.
