CUSA Bracket - blazerball25 - 01-31-2016 12:26 PM

Just some food for thought. If we go on to get the #1 seed in the tournament, the schedule makers are going to really hurt attendance.

We would be the Noon game Thursday and the 3pm game Friday. I don't know how flexible the conference would be, but seems like having the home team at those times is not ideal. I will be there regardless, but I know it will cause problems for some.

Thoughts?

Yeah that kinda sucks. It would be hard for me to get into town by 3pm on Friday..

RE: CUSA Bracket - LairDweller - 01-31-2016 12:37 PM

the #1 seed gets a couple hours more rest than the team they play

RE: CUSA Bracket - Ramsay7884 - 01-31-2016 12:48 PM

That kinda sucks! The 6pm game it would be packed

The one seed gets the easiest matchups. Deal with it.

Take some vacation time. Ask them "If the Tide was playing, how many people would be asking off?"

Works for me as I work nights

RE: CUSA Bracket - BandGrad - 01-31-2016 01:57 PM

In the past, the host school gets the best time slot regardless of the schedule.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. Shouldn't be a problem.

RE: CUSA Bracket - whisperdeer3 - 01-31-2016 02:01 PM

Is that ET or CT?

RE: CUSA Bracket - ATTALLABLAZE - 01-31-2016 04:08 PM

Usually they shuffle the schedule to get the home team the better time slot if possible. At least that is what they have done in the past.

RE: CUSA Bracket - The Answer UAB - 01-31-2016 04:32 PM

Hopefully they do that. PTO isn't an option for everyone

Agreed. Not everyone has that luxury and for those that do it may be limited. Hardcore fans may be willing to use their vacation time to go to a basketball game but to fill a 16k arena we're going to need some casual fans and they're much less likely to take leave.

RE: CUSA Bracket - Memphis Blazer - 01-31-2016 05:19 PM

I doubt anyone has any realistic belief in filling a 16,000 arena.

No. But it'd be nice to get 8-10k in there. We will need more than just hardcore fans to accomplish that.

RE: CUSA Bracket - Memphis Blazer - 01-31-2016 06:33 PM

Conference tickets are more expensive. Unless they give a whole lot away like last year, the non hardcore fans won't be going to the conference tournament.

There was 8,279 for last year's Championship game. There is more excitement surrounding the program this year... I think 10K+ is reachable it UAB is in the finals.

I'd rather a bigger home crowd than a few extra hours of rest, given how much better we play at home.

I think cusa cares enough about revenue from the tournament that they'll give UAB the primetime billing, regardless of what seed we get.

Totally agree...just trying to find some silver lining

RE: CUSA Bracket - BlazerPhil - 02-01-2016 04:07 PM

It will help me. We have a weekend out of town planned that weekend, but I convinced the boss we need to stop in the 'Ham and watch the game before we head South.

RE: CUSA Bracket - BandGrad - 02-01-2016 05:37 PM

I spoke with a UAB ticket rep today. As it stands right now, the games would be played as currently scheduled. If CUSA wants to make some money, they might want to rethink that decision as the home team has ALWAYS had the preferential time slot.
