maddawgs is right - golf4501 - 12-21-2015 09:01 PM

Looking at twitter most of the players are bitching about being in San Diego, forced to go to San Diego Zoo, not having fun at all. Yep they would rather not being playing in a bowl, and not having a reward for their hard work.....

Yep and the ratings are going to suck, the coaches are going to decline their bowl victory bonus in good faith after NIU beats Boise since the game is meaningless, the players would much rather be at home with their families instead of in San Diego with their families, and there will be no prediction posts or game thread on this forum whatsoever because we the fans dont care.

I think that sums it up

RE: maddawgs is right - MaddDawgz02 - 12-21-2015 10:09 PM

Trust me I don't want to be right about this, but even if I am right about it, I sure do not like seeing players make it public they feel this way. I really really hate Twitter.

RE: maddawgs is right - NIU75 - 12-21-2015 10:13 PM

So why are we there if nobody wants to be there? It is costing NIU a lot of money to play a game nobody wants.

no kidding!

Here is a perfect example of what this means to the players (and you can easily find many like it)

I wish MD would give this topic a rest - I'm not sure why he keeps pushing this agenda which is absolutely not true.

When we start a season, the coaches set out goals and objectives. Winning the conference and obtaining a spot in a bowl game are the two primary goals. The entire team wants to play in the postseason. That is what everyone begins fighting for in spring camp.

The notion that the players and coaches are indifferent about post-season games is just ludicrous. The coaching staff receives bonuses. Do you really think they don't care about money? The players are competitors who don't want to hang up the pads for the season. Very few seniors will go on to play past college. That bowl game will be the last time they will ever strap the helmet. Guys get emotional knowing their football journey is over.

The players want to go out with a win. They desperately want to go out with a win. They want to go on that one last road trip with their teammates, do the whole press junket, the publicity gigs, the team dinners, etc.

Anyone who would suggest otherwise has never been in a locker room.

Yeah, I only played through HS, but I was always pissed when the season ended. Sure I wasn't going to miss practice and film and studying plays and everything. But you miss the games. I don't think that changes in college, or at least I would assume not haha.

Oh wow I completely missed the sarcasm to begin this post. I think I'd be proven right if you had an off the record conversation with majority of players and coaches but so glad I misread this post and players did not say that on twittwr

Given your prediction record, that's a bet I'd love to make with you.

A college kids Twitter is as off the record as you can get. There's no incentive to pretend to be happy.

You'd think the thread title would've been a dead give away.

But then the idea that any living human could be unhappy about being in San Diego, that's even more absurd

Think about it - the last four years, the Huskie FB team has been in South Florida twice and San Diego twice. Some of the players have never gotten to experience these places prior to this.

Nice reward for all the hard work!
