We have a return game at Mason this year. We have played Richmond a few years in a row and beat them the last two- hopefully they still decided to extend the series. All that would be missing then is VCU.

Loved the fact we opened last season (and won) at Richmond. Play as many in state games as possible.

Toledo transfer Stuckey Mosley is on campus today taking a visit. La Tech's Dayon Griffin is also expected to come in this weekend. Either would be a really nice addition, plus help balance the classes. Griffin might be a long shot but getting him on campus at least gives you a shot. Big name schools in the hunt there.

Good to hear- both guys have proven that they can excel at the mid major level so there would be no doubt that they would make an impact (with an extra year of red shirt development as well). No offense to Morgan he was a transfer from a little higher level but someone who hadn't played or proven that he could compete- these guys can.

I'm greedy but I'd like JMU to pull off getting both guys and find another open scholarship to fit them in. The team needs more athletes on the perimeter, guys who can get their own shot and at a minimum get to the foul stripe- that much is clear in the first round beat downs in the CAA tourney.

Nice pickup that will help balance out the classes.

two key states in the electorial college. Now if we could win Virgnia, we would be in great shape.

Both Mosley and Griffin had very similar stats. Mosley, according to Jon Rothstein, was to visit LA Tech and was considering GW, San Fran and Bill & Gary. Believe that Drexel was also in the mix. Seems like a solid pick-up.

Not that it can't be overcome, but any other additions would now require someone else to leave the program- correct?

RE: 2017 Hoops Recruiting - Dukes84 - 05-05-2016 03:27 PM

Yep. I was hoping to see a big man join the fold.

RE: 2017 Hoops Recruiting - Dukes84 - 05-05-2016 03:33 PM

With respect to Mosley coming out of high school:

Mosley had 15 other scholarship offers from FAU, Southern Miss, Rhode Island, Boston U., Kansas State, Jacksonville U., North Florida, Morgan State, Cornell, Rider, Drexel, Albany, William & Mary, Boise State, Brown and Columbia.

RE: 2017 Hoops Recruiting - Bawlmer Duke - 05-05-2016 03:59 PM

Not 100% certain why he transferred as he was starting PG. Possibly the coaching staff wanted someone else after watching him run the PG all last season: http://www.bcsn.tv/news_article/show/628959

Mosley was the starting PG for a decent (by MAC standards) Toledo team. The Orlando native does a lot of damage by driving to the bucket but has range out to the three point line. He has good height for the PG position and is a solid defender. Very proficient at driving and then kicking out to open shooters. Could absolutely be a high major PG after sitting out the mandatory redshirt year. (https://painttouches.com/2016/04/04/ncaa-transfer-tracker/)

This a good news. I was afraid the cold rainy weather conditions today would cause him to look at more Florida schools.

Go Lou and Go Dukes!

RE: 2017 Hoops Recruiting - nyduke - 05-05-2016 04:12 PM

just watched some video....this looks like a great pickup.....lefty can score and started 31 of 32 games..........has 2 years left after sitting next year out. This staff is really getting after it.

RE: 2017 Hoops Recruiting - NJDuke97 - 05-05-2016 06:03 PM

There's a video out there that support this- Coach wanted him to stay and said good things about him as a player and kid but Stuckey wanted to be closer to home. I guess the Burg is closer to Florida than Ohio but I think the Florida staff and players they are bringing in made him feel at home. Now they need to schedule in Florida- make these kids feel even closer to home by playing a few road games there during the OOC. Looks like a good get based on his performance for a solid program in the MAC the last two years.

I read where they brought in a hot shot JUCO transfer at his position. Their loss is our gain. Looks solid!
