Sounds like Belk wants VT but... - 4x4hokies - 12-06-2015 03:29 PM

VT can't go before Pitt. NC State can jump Pitt so in the end Pitt is still going to be in Tier 2...now pulling VT with it. So VT gets choice between Annapolis and Shreveport.

When you are 6-6 it doesn't matter what you want.

Apparently when you are 8-4 it doesn't matter either.

Pitt got completely screwed. How on earth does Duke get the Pinstripe? They struggle to get 20k to their home stadium.

Wow, that's sad. Besides Pitt being the bigger fb brand, its also a lot closer than Duke. Very surprised that the Pinstripe chose Duke over Pitt.

Attendance for Duke v. Indiana will be around 10-15k, and they'll announce 25k. Mark it now. And, weather won't be bad this year, so they won't be able to blame it on the cold. It will just be two uninspired teams from relatively remote regions with small fan bases.

Whoever handled that decision was either incredibly constrained, or incredibly stupid. This game won't even get good ratings and will be compared to SU vs. WVU, RU vs. ND, and PSU vs. BC (the last 3 Pinstripe Bowls).

I don't get who wants this setup. Does Duke even want this to happen? Nobody wins.

Clearly the Pinstripe Bowl is trying to trick New Yorkers into seeing a football game with that basketball matchup.

RE: Sounds like Belk wants VT but... - Hokie Mark - 12-06-2015 06:26 PM

Why would Pinstripe want Duke over Pitt? Just don't get it...

The largest concentration of Duke alums are in the Tri-State area around NYC. The second largest concentration is in North Carolina from Raleigh to Charlotte via I-85.

Great. Dozens of people will be at the game then.

That's irrelevant. If you don't have the capability to acknowledge where most Duke students come from, or where they go so be it.

I'll make you a deal. If you come to NY and can find someone that you don't know and/or have a relation to, who is wearing a Duke shirt that references football on a random day (i.e. not Duke @ SU or Duke in the Pinstripe Bowl), I'll buy breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and a couple of cases of beer. I have yet to see one in my life.

Travel more. Trust me, this is a great country and you're clearly missing a lot of it.

Silly rabbit, I've been to every state, nearly every Canadian province, European Country and the only continents I've missed are Australia an Antarctica. You can't read. That makes you an idiot.

Here's the thing man, you can believe me or not, and you can call me all the insults that you want. But I actually live here. I went to school here several times. My alma mater has played in this bowl three times. I know who my neighbors are. I know who my classmates were and where they went. I've seen what the non-local team brings to this bowl. You can lie about traveling as much as you want, but anyone who visits will know the truth, and anyone who watches the old Pinstripe Bowls will know the truth.

I really don't know what you're trying to accomplish. The game will be played in a month. Do you really have that much confidence in Duke packing the stands of Yankee Stadium? If so, keep talking and dig your grave.

The attendance will be 10-15k and the announced attendance will be around 25K. Mark it.

Damn you are dumb.

All this angst over a garbage bowl in a baseball stadium. Unreal.

We shall see in a month. PSU and ND each put up just under 50k cheeks in the seats (playing against local teams), and RU and SU put up just under 40k cheeks in the seats (playing against non-local teams). Do you want to go on record saying Duke-Indiana will hit around 40k? That's the attendance rate for local vs. non-local.

And you continue to miss the point while you are fixated on attendance inside Yankee Stadium. So two-dimensional 01-wingedeagle

Yuppers. Given that we're talking about the popularity of a bowl game, I am pretty fixated on the attendance.
