OT-- ECU fires coach - GaSoEagle - 12-04-2015 01:25 PM

Well the mighty ECU is looking for a new coach today

RE: OT-- ECU fires coach - NewJersey GATA - 12-04-2015 01:29 PM

Yea I saw that as well ........

They are looking for coaching candidates now. I'll mention a guy from Appalachian State for them. I think it worked once before

RE: OT-- ECU fires coach - Georgia_Power_Company - 12-04-2015 01:29 PM

SS to ECU??? Better lock him down with a fat new contract App!

SI has already listed Satterfield as a candidate, along with the Head Coaches at WKU and Southern Miss, and AState's offensive Coordinator.

Somehow, I doubt our OC is actually a candidate for the ECU head coaching job. Their fans would riot.

RE: OT-- ECU fires coach - appst89 - 12-04-2015 01:45 PM

Jonesy will be here in a minute to tell us that Saban is in Greenville signing the contract today.

RE: OT-- ECU fires coach - GSU Eagles - 12-04-2015 02:01 PM

Joe Schad mentioned Trent Miles as a candidate.

Charlie Cobb, can we get this man the raise and long term extension he deserves? Lock him up with a 5 year extension. Stat!

RE: OT-- ECU fires coach - GSUhooligan - 12-04-2015 02:12 PM

Unless they've already got Lincoln Riley locked up, this move makes 0 sense, and barely does if they do. One mediocre season after your QB goes down before the season doesn't constitute a firing.

Hey that's great so he will make $525,000 next year at App meanwhile ECU was paying it's coach $1.4 million and up to $525,000 in bonus money. Gosh that would be a tough call if they offered him...

RE: OT-- ECU fires coach - Saint3333 - 12-04-2015 02:24 PM

ECU has had many seasons like this, beat one P5 and then crap the bed a couple times in conference, nothing terrible about it especially considering the injuries and seniors lost last year.

Sorry to hear about Coach Ruff, he was a good guy and loved ECU.

If accurate, proof that college football is a bubble. The college football coach will make 4-5 times the chancellor of a G5 school.

Who wants to coach at a school that will fire you after one 5-7 season?

27 wins in 3 years gets you gone in Greenville as does beating UNC (2x), State (2x), VT (2x)

Be glad of your location. Just think that type money wont go very far in memphis. After all what does security cameras, Razor wire, Assault rifles, Bullet proof glass and armed escorts cost these days. 2.5 mill goes a hell of a lot farther for you guys.

Excuse my ignorance, but are you (or your fan base) in support of this decision? As an outsider it seems bananas.

Program was trending the wrong way. Need new energy to compete in AAC.

I've thought about this a lot, do you think schools like Temple and Memphis had so much success was due in part to UCF and ECU having down years?

No, Temple is damn good. The AAC will be cyclical. Lots of good programs.

Temple has a good squad and Golden and their current coach has revived that program from 10 years ago. They are recruiting well and fan base is growing.

Memphis has an outstanding QB similar to what UCF had a few years back. They have made above avg programs look great!

UCF is in turmoil right now. UCF has one big advantage ...... the state of Florida and neighboring Alabama / Georgia
