I ain't mad at ya bro, but, well, bye.

Not sure I appreciate that during the season , but I guess that's the biz.

I'm for odom, or the western Kentucky coach now.

"Justin and I share a vision for the future of our program. After spending time together, I’m convinced he’s the right person to continue building on the standard we’ve established at Virginia Tech. I’m truly looking forward to working with him and supporting him.”

He must have had a busy 24 hours if he didn't look at offers until after the season.

(And, I'm not bitter. I'm grateful for everything he has done...just find it amusing that they all lie)

Damn, I guess this really has been going on for 1/2 the season. I wonder how long we've been talking to Odom?

I wonder if this was out in the open between the ADs of VT, Memphis, and Missouri?

Yep

"Now is not the time to talk about it."
"Because we already talked five weeks ago."

I feel he was done coaching Memphis after the Ole Miss game. Goodbye & good luck.

RE: " we met with Justin in person" - EdmondTiger - 11-29-2015 04:13 PM

I wonder how he feels about keeping Beamer and Foster or when that was negotiated.

RE: " we met with Justin in person" - midtowncowboy - 11-29-2015 04:17 PM

I suspect the players found out the week of the Navy game which was Nov 7. Beamer announced Nov 1. Now you know the 'rest of the story'.

Beamer doesn't matter.

Getting Foster handed too you is a big win. If the defense goes bad guess who gets the blame. Fuente is brought in to change the offense.

Agreed. In a way it might be good for us if Foster keeps a couple of defensive guys from his current staff. Would allow the next coach to hang onto a couple of current coaches for continuity.

They all lie. The good ones simply lie less.

Grateful here too. And amused.

Sadly, college coaching changes require a ton of communication during the season. As we've seen, it can get pretty nasty. I don't think any less of Fuente for it. It's going to happen. Wish him the best and thank him for the work he did here.

Who cares? This is what happens. You're not gonna hire a guy normally without an interview ...Best of luck to Coach Fu

For what its worth...Fox Sports Radio last night said that VT had contacted Fuentes' agent right after it was announced that Beamer was stepping down on Nov 1st so this deal could have been almost done weeks ago and just waited till after Memphis' last regular season game was played.

Whats also noteworthy of Beamer's Nov 1st annoucement and VT contacting Fuentes' agents is that Memphis lost their next 3 games after that initial contact.

Things that make you go hhhhmmmmmmmmmmm.

I do think that was a big factor (top DC...almost guaranteed to keep all of their targeted verbal recruits, etc...).

Also doesn't hurt that Fuentes ends up in that "other" ACC division...the one that doesn't have Clemson or FSU...so odds of winning that division are probably a lot better than the other one.

05-stirthepot04-cheers Well I don't know if I want to stir the pot or offer congratulations to Fuente. So here goes, I certainly appreciate everything he did for our program and I appreciate it very much. On the other hand he left us when we are on the verge of really going big time in football and this will hurt us for a while. Therefore I kind of hope that he loses every game at Virginia Tech and Paxton Lynch will get more credit for getting our Tigers to the level we are now. Very mixed emotions on my part but that is the way I feel right now.

Yep, this is the part that bothers me the most. I blame VT for this, not Fuente, but I definitely think it played a role in that 3-game stretch. Sure, Fuente can multi-task, but multi-tasking by definition means that your attention and focus are divided.

I'm right there with ya on most all your comments but I promise you the Player's did not know anything was going on until last week.. Some of them questioned him last week about it but he nipped it in the bud by telling them to quit asking him and to concentrate on the upcoming game.. Now I do think it affected the team a while back as far as Coaching goes.. It's hard to imagine Fuente not thinking about other things, VT, during his preparation and during games played.. One of my best friends son plays for the Tigers and that's how I know..

Why is it VT's fault if they contacted Fuente's agent/attorney weeks ago and said "lets talk". It was Fuente's agent that said "ok, lets do...whats your offer?" when he could have said "We will not talk to you or any other team till the morning of Nov 29th, right after our last regular season game".

Fuente's could have delayed any discussion with VT weeks ago but its pretty obvious know that they have been in discussions for quite a while...but that's not VT's fault...Fuente's allowed those discussions/talks to happen when HE had total control over them.
