Is Kiel better than Greg Ward Jr or Paxton Lynch? - BoKnows - 11-07-2015 09:27 PM

Gents,

I remember you saying before the season that Kiel was the best QB in the American? Do yall still feel that way?

I don't have an opinion but I'm curious about yours. Kiel was a big get for UC. He could have gone anywhere.

However, Paxton Lynch was a lightly recruited guy. Greg Ward Jr was not the most heralded QB recruit in his class. O'Korn was.

Is Kiel still better than those guys? I'll hang up and listen. 07-coffee3

I'd take Lynch all day. Ward I'm not decided.

Meh. He's good when he has no pressure. He can't handle much contact. His arm strength is questionable. I mean he's solid, but when he falters he really falters. He'll lose you about as many games as he'll win for you.

Lynch and Ward have better coaching staffs, too.

I'll take Lynch. I'm not terribly impressed with Ward.

Lynch is a projected high draft pick as a junior, he's in a completely different class. I'd take Kiel over Ward

Kiel has tremendous talent, but he has the mindset of Ricky Bobby. He reminds me of a pitcher who got drafted high because he throws 95+ but is not too concerned about actually learning how to pitch instead of throw.

I know, I know Rath....a decent coach would help.

He's got a bit of Jeff George in him, yes.

Lynch over Kiel for sure.

I'd rather have Gunner than Ward. Gunner stuffs the stat sheets against bad teams much more effectively than Ward. Plus Ward was hardly even the reason Houston won yesterday.

Lynch all day

I thought Gran was the only guy on the team who could coach? Is it now zero?

I'd take Hayden Moore over all three of them. Whenever the camera catches Gunner's face on the field during a game, it looks like he's scared to death.

Based on the way his offense can't score in the red zone I'm not nearly as sold on him as you. I think the defense is doing remarkably well with all the freshmen getting major minutes. I think they'll be pretty good as they mature. I think Hayden Moore will be great. I think the DL will be much better in 2 years.

Am I disappointed? Certainly. Am I giving up on this staff? No. I think this program has a better talent base than it's had since at least Dantonio was here, maybe ever. Kiel seems to fold under pressure. He's cost UC 1 loss (Temple) and really hurt UC with mistakes in other games. Special teams cost UC yesterday. That needs to be fixed yesterday as this is the 2nd year in a row that they've been a major problem. The only game in which they've been outplayed is BYU. The rest of the games were lost due to mistakes, not being outcoached.

+1

The question is, fast forward a few years...would you take H. Moore as a Junior or Lynch?

#5 in total offense, 17th in scoring offense and 104th in red zone offense.

Feed Mike Boone the rock in the red zone a few times and I'll bet that crap ranking would improve. Oh wait, he's busy running back kick-offs and staying in the back field to help block blitzing defenses and being substituted-by-committee of the other running backs.

Boone had 3 TDs in the red zone against Houston last year. He was generally unstoppable out of the wildcat in red zone situations last year. Much better than QB draws.

Boone whiffs on pass protection. With Houston blitzing so much, a couple of the big hit sacks on Kiel, Boone was in. I guess people can't see this.
