Whine and butch about a blackout as its too much for the plane crash anniversary 11/14/70 but yet want to have ESPN College GAME DAY come on the whole premise of it being the 45th anny. Blackout - bad too much. National TV show on ESPN talks all about it for 4 hours - cool. RE: This actually might work. - galojah - 11-05-2015 06:11 PM OOOH. Sorry. Didn't realize. Yea I have a problem with people having a problem with the blackout. RE: This actually might work. - Surbadger - 11-05-2015 06:53 PM This would be the best early Christmas present! Just curious, what connection do you have to 11/14/70? RE: This actually might work. - HERD1 - 11-05-2015 08:37 PM The blackout on the crash anniversary IS a terrible idea. It's just uncomfortably dark. And from a marketing perspective it is a total fail. To turn blackout game excitement (which is suppose to hype the fans and players) into a somber moment of "remembrance" defeats the purpose of the whole thing. Why not have some throwback helmets for the anniversary game (I mean how much does a decal cost??) and then do a blackout for another game? They could have made two games "special" for the players and fans. RE: This actually might work. - RonBurgundy - 11-05-2015 08:57 PM Marshall should do a white out for it or throwback uniforms. This would be a big thing for Marshall and the conference as a whole if we hosted Gameday. I'll see believe it when I see it though, hope I'm wrong. RE: This actually might work. - HerdAlum83 - 11-05-2015 11:26 PM I have 0 faith that we get Game Day. However, if we were to ever get College Game Day it would have to be for a game like this as macabre as that sounds. RE: This actually might work. - rawright1987 - 11-06-2015 12:01 AM I'm predicting Gameday to be in Houston for their game against Memphis that day. If not there, I figure they'll be at the Oklahoma-Baylor game. I think its a great thing, and it will be an epic fail in the stands, as only about 30% of fans will probably buy black, but the uniforms will be awesome if the rumors are true. RE: This actually might work. - WKUFan518 - 11-06-2015 08:17 AM Only really 2 marquee matchups next week, so might have a chance...Landscape pretty bare but with ESPN and a contract with American Conference, I would expect them to be in Houston for Houston vs. Memphis... RE: This actually might work. - CoachMaclid - 11-06-2015 08:30 AM One other consideration is they have to get Herbstriet from Gameday location to the ABC Saturday Night game of the week. Now, I know they've flown him from Oregon to Alabama, so it's really possibly for him to fly cross country in time, but three games ABC can flex into that time are... #3 Ohio State at Illinois #17 Michigan at Indiana Maryland at #7 Michigan State It'd be a lot easier to get Herbstriet to Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan from Huntington than from Houston. Would it really be easier though? Maybe for the average person, but for ESPN? I do not forsee that being a determining factor in the slightest. |
