college Football Week 10 - BearcatnKY - 11-03-2015 11:05 PM

Nice catch!

RE: college Football Week 10 - BearcatJerry - 11-03-2015 11:41 PM

Damn, I was really pulling for Toledo... I'd rather see the Rockets in contention for that "access" bid than Memphis and/or Houston.

RE: college Football Week 10 - CliftonAve - 11-04-2015 04:59 AM

For whatever reason NIU owns Toledo. They have won six in a row against the Rockets. Those two teams have been the class of the MAC for a while now.

I'd always rather have a conference team in contention (if it can't be the Bearcats obviously) for the simple reason that if Toledo would get the spot, the TV talking heads would begin spouting off about how the MAC is better than the AAC. With current circumstances, the AAC continues to be in the limelight and perception of the quality of the league continues to improve. Good things for UC IMO. If Toledo wins, I don't see how that has any upside for UC. JMO

I can't root for conference foes. I hate them all.

RE: college Football Week 10 - dossbig - 11-04-2015 01:41 PM

MAC Nation again tonight. OU v BGSU.

RE: college Football Week 10 - Dannyboy - 11-04-2015 05:48 PM

My wife is an OU grad. It's the only team other than UC that I like.

Daughter graduate of Harvard on the Hocking. It would be really cool if upcoming UC game at Athens was at Halloween. If you have never been to Athens for it you need to.

I was in Athens for Halloween last year. A cool party and some nice scenery. :)

RE: college Football Week 10 - rtaylor - 11-04-2015 09:02 PM

Entertaining Maction so far. All even at 14.

Why do you guys think programs on a larger scale like Duke and Temple keep playing football? Both are traditionally really good in basketball, but their football, not so much. One might say you could drop the two programs and nobody would miss them, right? My point on football is for whatever the reason people gravitate to that sport. 12 of the teams in the top 25 are playing in bowls this year that I counted, and may have missed one. Pittsburgh went 6-6 but didn't get picked for a game (tough slap in the face given that MTSU got in). Yea it's apples to oranges trying to compare on a larger scale, but there's all this talk about being successful and it just seems to coincide with atleast having a team. There can only be so many Gonzaga's and Marquette's of the world.

Edit - was supposed to be quoting dossbig. No idea how this got quoted.

If UC game in Athens was same night as Halloween, that would be a logistics nightmare. UC will send a ton of fans to that game and the town fills up with visitors on Halloween. Recipe for disaster.

One year when my daughter was there, some brilliant admin. decided they could tone down Halloween weekend by having Parents Weekend that weekend. The result was not only were students arrested but so were a lot of parents. The weekend was wild, very vulgar, very liquid.

It's Week 10, and this is the first game that Matt Johnson has not passed for 400 yards all season. Kids a stud...and Roger Lewis is going to make some NFL team.very happy in the later rounds on this year's draft.

I know everyone raves about Matt Campbell at Toledo, but Dino Babers is number 1 on my list of up and coming MAC head coaches.

I'm sure Mike Thomas will hire one of them soon

After Beckman's time at Illinois, Matt Campbell will NEVER go to Champaign.

Temple took the lead over SMU just before half 21-17. An upset win for SMU could sure make things interesting for us.
