Why would it? They were the best choice at the time and nothing that has happened since to change that.

Talk about some serious Memphis trolling.

Man Memphis finally has a decent football team and the morons come out. When Fuente bounces this year, right back to irrelevance for you guys.

RE: Buyers remorse... - Hallcity - 10-28-2015 03:23 PM

That's all good but how well will Louisville do if they have to go all respectable and legit? Miami has tried to go respectable and legit and look where they are. You get a lot more scrutiny when you're in a major conference. Some things that passed under the radar when Louisville was in the Big East may cause major NCAA and PR problems with Louisville in the ACC, such as the scandal they're facing right now.

Some of the respectable and legit colleges in our conference would help the preception of the ACC if the would dust off some of that old money hidden away in vaults and expand and upgrade their athletic facilities.

Memphis=The 1 year wonder

When Fuente bolts they will be back to their usual 2 or 3 wins a season. This is a program that always rode our coat tails

This argument doesn't hold much water. To start, the current investigation only involves basketball, so the above referenced football numbers are inapplicable. Plus, we know a commitment to football was key to the invite in the first place.

As for basketball, the allegations at worst are for a time period of 2010-2014. That's a short window compared to being a top 10 basketball program all-time historically.

Then your comparison school is Miami. The Canes and Cards are at different ends of the spectrum when it comes to concerns regarding athletic department revenue and donor financial commitments to the program.

Why would there be remorse over Louisville?

Louisville has a rabid fan base and has near total sports entertainment control of the Louisville metro - meaning they are the only game in town. There is no nearby competing P-5, no nearby NFL, NBA, NHL, or MLB team.

Maryland was a dying entity killed slowly by the quadruple blows of Len Bias' death, an egomaniacal Chancellor and President, changing demographics at MD, and the success of the Washington Nationals.

Any buyer's remorse should be saved for Miami and perhaps Boston College.

We knew we were not getting a Cadillac with BC. We thought we were getting a Caddy with Miami.

But the entire premise of the question presupposes that someone was available on short notice that was a better overall package than Louisville. We know that neither Cincinnati, Tulane, Navy, or Connecticut, brought a better overall package to the conference.

I would go further and suggest that Louisville is a better overall addition than Vanderbilt or Purdue, perhaps even Northwestern (which of course assumes these programs are seeking an exit from massive state school competition - which is not readily apparent at this time). \

Now imagine we got Texas when we added Louisville. Their football program is in the toilet, their basketball program has fallen on hard times. They can't keep a new AD. Would we have buyer's remorse?

What Louisville has now is the equivalent of a curable case of VD - syphilis, gonorrhea's, or chlamydia. Louisville does not have terminal cancer. UNC has a visible case of herpes right now, but eventually it will clear up before the next outbreak.

Miami might have an autoimmune disorder and we will see if it is chronic or acute.

FSU just sprained their ankle stepping over yellow jacket nest. 03-wink
