I think everybody has launched their boats for the Island. Has anyone besides Wry and Dotty made it yet? Is MsNole planning a big welcome home party with OLEGRAD?

- USMC - 10-27-2003 12:14 PM

I see the island's horizon just ahead JBR, hey Wry, toss me a line!

- 10MAN - 10-27-2003 01:02 PM

I'm a waitin' and a seein', Benj. I will have an answer on November 22nd. Oddly enough, that is the same day as the LSpuke game. That will be my deciding day!!! Or Judgement Day!

- georgew - 10-27-2003 01:48 PM

my boat is dry docked, I won't have the energy to get it back in the water until and unless we stomp SC and beat AU!

- LRRebel - 10-27-2003 02:01 PM

Will let you know after the SEC championship game in Atlanta! :D 04-cheers

- KlutzDio I - 10-27-2003 04:14 PM

Regardless of what transpires, I think Klutzkliffe still needs to go. I think after this season and we lose some talent, Klutzkliffe will tally the usual 4-4 style SEC season, continuing to play 3 of 4 powderpuffs in the non-confernce portion of the schedule.

With the Col. not appearing on the sidelines in 2004, and no Manning in uniform, I see fan support dropping dramatically, that is unless we do something amazing like win out this season. If the latter happens, the world will come to an end the whole question is moot.

Seriously, Klutzkliffe is not a bad coach and not a good one. I don't think he has what it takes to turn this team into an powerhouse to be reckoned with. I am a reasonable guy and I know there's no way in hell he could be fired now. I know he won't be fired now and that is the correct decision to be made by the powers-that-be. Even if he loses out he won't be fired and that is the correct decision because we are going bowling again, albeit Shreveport but that is what the athletic dept. wants, bowls, don't care where, just bowls!

So, JBR, does this mean you will join Wry and me for martinis on the Island? Shaken or stirred? Straight up or on the rocks? Olives or a twist? :girl: I'll bring some pate de fois gras, as well... if I can find it in J'town. 03-confused

- NewspaperRebel - 10-27-2003 09:20 PM

JBR, where have you been?? It's high time to start the old slicing and dicing at which you're so adept!

- Wryword - 10-27-2003 11:05 PM

Look a here, y'all. We may well get beat by Lspuke and Allburned. Those teams have a lot of hosses playing for them. But I will be surprised if the Cocks beat us, and totally stunned if State College beats us. Assuming Lspuke and Allburned do beat us, we still come out pretty good this season, and a hell of a lot better than I thought we were going to do. I'm tellin' ya, this team has got a different karma working right now. Go with it, cause it ain't often that Ole Miss has it. We may not be in Atlanta on 6 December, but then I don't think we will be begging for anybody, somebody to take us in a bowl either.

I've been as negative as Peanut and even Diogenes a/k/a KlutzDio but there is something good happening here. Let's ride that while it lasts. If we play well and get coached well but get beat by just a better team, we can live with that. What chapped my butt was seeing us get beat by our own stupidity. I still can't believe it, but right now we are coaching well and playing well. If we can continue doing that, we will do alright.

Look Wry, I just keeping with my schtick. And, I'll tell all of you now that I will not enjoy the season until it's over. If we end up 6-2 in SEC play at the end of the season (or better), then I'll enjoy it then. I just can't relax now that we have games around the corner. Once we're waiting on a bowl (hopefully now Shreveport), that is when I'll enjoy the season, that's when I'll give the team accolades, that is when I talk about Klutzkliffe all lovy-dovy. Until then, though, I'm going to be pessimistic as hell!

We suck, 'Cocks will take us by 21!

Dotty, I'd be proud to join you and Wry for a Bombay Sapphire gimlet with a twist of lime, neat, if you please. Make way, naybobs! I'm coming home! 04-cheers

In commemoration of this event, how about some grilled Red Snapper rubbed with ancho chile? It's my specialty.

Can't drink Rumplemintz until we win an SEC championship, though. It's a long story that I'll save for another time. 03-cool

- Dorothy Parker - 10-28-2003 07:25 PM

Ah, gin gimlets... I used to order those, and Scotch-and-waters, when I was in college and WAY underage. Worked every time. (Order a "sissy drink," get carded.) I must say, JBR, I share your taste in gin. But one of the last times I indulged in Bombay Sapphire was about 11 years ago. I was in what one might call an "upscale" bar in northeast Jackson, MS, had a few of those B.S. martinis, straight up, and I gave my phone number to this cowboy who, I thought, just wanted to be my friend! 03-lol

Film at eleven.

Sorry for the non-sports post, guys, but don't we have to do something to distract ourselves from the anxiety over this Saturday, and then the next Saturday...

- Wryword - 10-28-2003 10:15 PM

I do believe, JBR, that you and Mrs Parker and I could have quite a good time beneath the umbrella on the beach of Fantasy Island. I think we would differ enough from each other to makes ourselves interesting to each other. And these drinks you and she mention sound like a fine lubricant to me.

Just the same, you are a Bolshevik, and I personally believe that you are probably behind the movement to get rid of animal mascots at the football games. Just you wait till UGA fans get your number.

Wry, that didn't sound good, bro. I know how you meant it, but I guess my mind is in the gutter. 03-lol 03-lol 03-lol 03-lol

- Wryword - 10-28-2003 10:37 PM

Excuse me, my friend. Now that I read it I see what you mean, you dirty prevert. But anyhow, I would NEVER use good liquor for THAT kind of lubricant. Good liquor is too expensive for THAT use. Durned prevert.

Wry, I knew what you meant, but...

Have you priced "good lubricants" lately? :girl: Ounce for ounce, well... You don't have to answer that!

We've come a long way from KY! I can't believe I said that. I could go on and on, but I won't. See y'all in Circle Two!

That's a nice image, Wry, but fear not; I'll bring some S. B. from Woodbridge!

Do you think I could engage some Bolshevik/PETA fanatic to come to my house to clean up boxer effluvia? 03-puke

- joebordenrebel - 10-29-2003 08:51 AM

This whole conversation is running past the risque into the darned-near twisted. . .which is, of course, why I am keeping it going! 03-wink

I would make inappropriate comments meant to titillate at this point about menage a trois but I shall refrain from doing so at the behest of what's left of my conscience. :D

I'd be proud to join the whole gang for a drink, though!
