B1G Network looking to expand West of Nebraska and South of Nebraska - Nebraskafan - 10-05-2015 08:45 PM and finish off eastern expansion. http://www.landgrantholyland.com/2015/10/5/9453701/big-ten-expansion-west-ohio-state-big-ten-network-maryland-rutgers Shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. But this time it comes directly from the horses mouth at BTN. "We're looking west of Nebraska to make sure people can see the kind of games we can offer," said Mr. Silverman, who notes that BTN is carried on Time Warner Cable in Los Angeles. "But we are very happy with our distribution. We think the Big Ten is the one true national conference. Our alums are everywhere." The goal has always been 20 teams. The B1G isn't done expanding no matter what some random yahoo on twitter says. RE: B1G Network looking to expand West of Nebraska and South of Nebraska - ohio1317 - 10-05-2015 09:06 PM I don't really see anything in the article suggesting the Big Ten is looking to expand. It explains that the past expansion did help increase Big Ten Network coverage in the east and the network is working on other areas, but that's still a leap to read into that the Big Ten itself is looking to expand imo. RE: B1G Network looking to expand West of Nebraska and South of Nebraska - Eagleditka - 10-05-2015 09:25 PM Kansas and UConn could make them the best basketball conference in the country. BTN will continue to work to expand. The other expansion comment is just me making fun of the Twitter idiots that say expansion is over when it clearly isn't going to be. Delany has always said the goal was 20 and national expansion. BTN is working to expand nation wide too. Put it all together... You have multiple quotes of this? Since he has always said 20 teams is the goal. Well that's $0.25 It can only go up from there. RE: B1G Network looking to expand West of Nebraska and South of Nebraska - DavidSt - 10-05-2015 10:29 PM I don't know any teams from the PAC 12 would budge. Schools that are AAU or close to AAU type status besides Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas are these. Rice Tulane Houston New Mexico UAB Stony Brook Buffalo Colorado State North Dakota North Dakota State South Dakota South Dakota State Montana Montana State Idaho San Diego State UNR Cal-Davis Cal-Poly Hawaii Plus the number of ACC schools, Cincinnati, Delaware. UConn., U.Mass., Old Dominion, UCF, USF, FIU, FAU and some others. I do not see many of these schools on the radar, but I do might see some of the Dakota schools could be in the future if they continue beating P5 schools in football every year. But for the always wild side do everybody a favor and move to twenty with California, U.S.C., U.C.L.A., Stanford, Washington, and Colorado. Let the rest unite with the Big 12. The Big 20: California, Stanford, U.C.L.A., U.S.C., Washington Colorado, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, Wisconsin Illinois, Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern, Ohio State Indiana, Maryland, Penn State, Purdue, Rutgers Now that would be more of a national Big 10 and without the compromise of standards. The Big 12 Boise State, Oregon, Oregon State, Utah, Washington State Arizona, Arizona State, Brigham Young, San Diego State, Nevada Baylor, Colorado State, Houston, Texas, Texas Tech Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State ACC Boston College, Connecticut, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Syracuse Louisville, Memphis, Temple, Virginia, Virginia Tech Clemson, Duke, North Carolina, N.C. State, Wake Forest Florida State, Georgia Tech, Miami, Rice, Tulane SEC Cincinnati, Kentucky, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, West Virginia Auburn, East Carolina, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina Arkansas, Louisiana State, Missouri, T.C.U., Texas A&M Alabama, Central Florida, Mississippi, Mississippi State, South Florida Now I don't know if that is profitable or not, but it sure would make most of the board happy. That would be epic. At least halftime of the Rice-UVA game. MOB vs. Cavaliers. Yep! Maybe they both could schedule Stanford OOC. As long as we're talking pipe dreams, could we trade with Rice or Tulane? Given the choice, we'd much prefer the ACC over the SEC. The ACC is almost as attractive to us as the Big Ten. I think the ACC would want us over Rice/Tulane as well. Sorry, but we don't need Houston or New Orleans. Thems the breaks. We could trim Cincinnati and South Florida and be more profitable at 18. How's that? Just kidding, I think. RE: B1G Network looking to expand West of Nebraska and South of Nebraska - TexanMark - 10-05-2015 11:29 PM David...just stop it with Buffalo and Stony Brook to the B1G...get some popcorn and put one of their games on...you'll find out they have about 7k fans in the stands. This from a Syracuse guy who school could have been booted from the AAU, but they removed themselves from them while Buffalo and Stony Brook get AAU status? Those two will get into the Big 10 before Syracuse would. |
