I want to play Syracuse in Orlando. No fair. If we go to Montgomery and App State goes to Orlando, and plays a beatable P5 team, I'm going to be real jealous.

I think we should make ECU an honorary Sun Belt Member since they like to spend so much time over here.

Of all the bowl games and all the bowl eligible teams, why would they have us replaying SDSU??? But at least they finally put us in the projected bowl team list...

RE: ESPN Bowl Projections Week 5 - kevinwmsn - 10-04-2015 11:26 PM

I thought that was odd too. No need for a rematch. I know the Sunbelt is an alternate for the Arizona Bowl, but does that mean the 5th best team gets that bowl?
I am hoping for a bowl more closer to home.

Don't assume that these folks have actually looked at our schedule.

Outside the major bowls, these are random guesses based on records.

I'm surprised they are not predicted to play in the national championship against Pitt, since the those two teams have beaten the almighty Virginia Tech.

C-USA has 7 bowls this year so I wouldn't be surprised to see them leave 1 (or 2) open. Arizona is a ways to travel but hey, it's a bowl.

They ever announce a TV partner for that game???

RE: ESPN Bowl Projections Week 5 - ericsaid - 10-05-2015 12:20 PM

Doesn't the New Orleans Bowl take the Sun Belt champion? The fact many of them have ULL going (which makes sense because of Geography) shows they know nothing of the conference or how UL has played of late.

Nope. The New Orleans Bowl gets the first selection, but they don't have to take the champion. The fact that you don't know this shows you know nothing of the Sun Belt bowl selection process... 04-cheers

Quote:Among four primary Sun Belt-affiliated bowls, New Orleans has the first choice SBC bowl-eligible teams.

The GoDaddy Bowl in Mobile, which Sun Belt member Arkansas State has been to four straight years, has second selection. The Camellia Bowl in Mobile, Alabama, which South Alabama went to in its inaugural presentation last year, has the third pick. And this year the new Cure Bowl in Orlando can choose from any remaining bowl-eligible SBC teams.

From what I gather reading comments from posters in the know the NOB has 1st pick but only has to take the champion 1 out of every 2 years. Of course Karl Benson has said the SBC will work with the bowls to place the most desirable teams so I don't think the 1 out of every 2 years is set in stone.

Edit: the SBC does guarantee the league champ a bowl game so one of our 4 contract bowls would have to take the champ.

Haha, and the fact that The Advertiser didn't check its facts shows that I will not be using them as a source again. Aren't they IN Montgomery for goodness sakes?!
