Pretty good recording. It does touch on the fan who graduated vs non-alumnus fan.

I can understand being a fan if you never went to college or went to a smaller school or somewhere without football. What chaps my ass is folks who graduate from one school but root for another, and I'm not just talking about UAB alumni rooting for AU or UAT. I have an uncle who was raised 5 miles from Auburn, went to Auburn, but it a bammer. I call out all my friends who went to UAB but post facebook pictures of themselves in Tuscaloosa or Auburn, asking them when they're going to support their alma mater.

Support the school you paid money to first.

You hit the nail on the head.

When I get asked why I'm a UAB football fan, my answer is short and succinct, "I put my mouth where my money is."

Hell, I don't care who anybody pulls for, frankly. I just wish slackjaws would stop begrudging me mine.

My standard answer is "I choose to support the institution of higher learning that has actually had a positive impact on my life"
