Time to get busy. We have a program to rebuild.

This is a major victory. 04-cheers

Quote: Clark's salary will be between $600,000-$700,000 a year and will include the opportunity to earn incentive bonuses.

Forgive if this is a really stupid Q...Been removed from the UAB situation since the announcement to bring back FB...

What is the latest about a potential FB stadium being built for UAB??? I know money was said to be an issue for the program in general that led to the initial dismantle, but just didn't know if that is part of the overall master plan for bringing the program back.

It's going to happen. To quote the late David Housel "Probably not til after a couple of high profile funerals."

In the words of Mark Twain (whom I'm quite sure is dead), "I've never killed a man, though I have read a few obituaries with great enthusiasm." 03-wink

But seriously....

What is left to go down for recruiting, stadium, scheduling, ect....

Clark is out recruiting like a mad banshee. He's got about 33 kids on campus currently. Would like to be up to 60 by spring.

Had a walk-on meeting today.

All that other stuff, I don't know.

There is a plan being put together for the BJCC to cover the bond on a new stadium connected to the Civic Center and the new Uptown district. If this passes the stadium will be tailored as UAB the primary tenant with seating possibly up to 45,000. I have heard many designs floating around with capacity from 45,000- 60,000 and a retractable roof. A stadium is happening we just don't know where or how big at this time.

On campus has been discussed with seating up to 30,000 and expandable but that is about a 20% or less chance due to PBJ. The board cannot touch the BJCC and it would be a big finger in their eye.

So Legion Field with a roof?

UAB needs a 25,000-30,000 seat stadium with room to expand if necessary. Sticking your team in a way oversized stadium again is only going to extend the perception that you have no fans.

I get it though, the BJCC doesn't want Birmingham to lose their bowl game. Clearly ANY stadium is also better than Legion Field for UAB, but it would be so much better for you guys to be in a right-sized stadium.

Hopefully if a large stadium is built, they at least build it in a way that just filling the lower bowl can create a good environment.
