Too bad they were smart enough to not try to bully Stephens directly.

Looks to me like many people at UAB are getting tired of relaying their secret instructions and taking "credit" for them. We saw the same thing with Hatton Smith when he said the BOT requested the funds be turned in earlier.

Quote:It's most interesting of all that a UAB VP is worried about a backlash against the trustees. Given the way some of them have operated where UAB football's concerned, he should be.

I was looking at this issue in a larger context so I didn't even think of the above until I saw it stated in the article. You're seriously worried about the board catching some flak for imaginary headlines when you practically have a coach in the wind waiting on a contract? I know most scrutiny has been on Dr. Watts and the board and rightfully so, but, man, Bolton is something else. I don't think I've ever seen a statement from him that wasn't inherently dishonest.

You got to think like a worm to understand a worm. He is afraid to speak out in fear of losing his job, so this is the closest we are going to get to him saying: "This is what the Trustees wanted. They don't want UAB football coming back, so they are delaying in every way conceivable."

That language about protecting the Trustees is directly out of the Sard-Verbinnen playbook leaked some months back.

Attalla is right. Smithers didn't write that letter. Clay Ryan did. Smithers copied-and-pasted.

yeah but why give it to the media? I thought the same thing until I read Scarbinsky got it from UAB's Chief Communications Officer?

It is now pretty apparent to me that we didn't win the battle over shutting down UAB football. We won one skirmish on one flank, but the battle still rages.

The BOT is like... oops we can't just outright cut it... let's just try to strangle it then.

Straight bull****!

I passed information this situation on to Archibald and Scarbinski after I read about it here on Blazer Talk. I don't know whether Scarbinski reacted to that tip or he was already working on the column, but it doesn't matter; just so it got published. I'm hoping that Archibald runs with this and demand for early pledge contributions also since his columns are usually a lot more stinging than Kevin's.

The main thing I want to point out is that Blazer Talk and the people who contribute articles like the original one on this situation perform an absolutely invaluable service in times like this by bringing stories like this one to the forefront.

One more thing, once Watts is finally shown the door, we also need to clean out all of the chicken$hit in the chicken coop which is the UAB administration.

Watts is a boil.
The UAB administration is a festering open wound.
We have a systemic state-wide infection with chunks of bacteria flowing from Tuscaloosa to Montgomery, and then landing all over the state leading to clots and eventually the not-so-good gangrene

We're watching the governor's office melt down right before our eyes. We've been screaming that this was behind the curtain for a year now. Tada! Behind the curtain is in fact the State of Alabama laid bare and she is a VERY sick patient.

We have to hit it hard to the media that UAB was just a visible example of state-wide collapse of an immune system, and we're basically a body run by the infection.

There is no one person at UAB that can be removed to fix this.
