UCF Fans: The sky is not falling. - Insane_Baboon - 09-04-2015 12:23 PM

I'm seeing UCF fans freaking out everywhere, but I get a feeling that people are just forgetting the cycle that UCF has gone through the past decade. All football teams have their ups and downs, one bad year does not mean we're going to return to being basement dwellers.

Here are some season by season records:

2005: (8-5) - Won CUSA East but lost the championship
2006: (4-8)
2007: (10-4) - Won CUSA East and won the championship
2008: (4-8)
2009: (8-5)
2010: (11-3) - Won CUSA East and won the championship
2011: (5-7)
2012: (10-4) - Won CUSA East (Tied) but lost the championship
2013: (12-1) - Won the AAC and won the Fiesta Bowl
2014: (9-4) - Won the AAC (Tied)

Looking at those seasons, we're due for a correction. We arent a blueblood program that can simply reload year after year. When players leave, we have to train new ones.

We have no reason to believe that we'll have a streak of losing seasons. The past 10 years, every time we've had a bad season we've improved to be respectable the following year.

Keep your cool, take the smack talking by everyone else in stride, and be content knowing that history shows next year will be better.

You're right, just a hard pill to swallow losing to fiu at home. If we can make a bowl game on our down year thats not so bad I guess. We just have to make sure we don't have 2 bad years in a row. Which looking at the past 10 years we have done a decent job of. Hopefully we continue with this trend.

What pained me the most last night was watching how fired up fiu was to play us and it seemed like we were just there because we had to be. They played inspired and wanted to win badly. We just didn't look like we wanted to win as much as they did last night. You would have thought they had just won some kind of championship game watching their sideline after we missed that field goal. Lots of taunting from them too.

The meltdown continues. We are witnessing the stages of grief

It's been falling for a while. You guys keep sweeping the problems under the rug because GOL pulls off some miracle wins but the chickens are going to come home soon. #firegol

No grief here, just hoping to reign in those UCF fans who are losing their cool.

We have rebuilding seasons every few years, its not as big a deal as some people are making it.

No one should go catatonic after one loss... There can always be adjustments and learning as the season goes on... UCF had a great run and managed to win lots of those close nail-biters... The USF game during the Fiesta season comes to mind. You guys will be fine.

I tell myself that after every SMU game

I actually agree with you, but regarding that last line, some of your guys were on the giving end of a lot of smack talk themselves, right up until the game started unfolding. Then they all disappeared.

Also, last year after UC got beaten by us so soundly, some of their fans were calling tor them to drop football, lol. Then they lost one more, before running off 7 wins in a row.

All is not lost, lol.

Good post Insane and while very true, it is only part of the story. There are elements of firmbizzle's post that are true IMO. But that is't limited to UCF. We all have our issues...the different conference programs. We will all have moments where we believe we are worse off than reality. It's a long drop when you believe you are far better off than reality. Not busting on UCF, as it's obvious your fans aren't the only one with this problem. Best of luck the rest of the way...except against ECU, of course!

I see a few freak outs most are just confused WTF happened. FIU catches a deflected ball for TD and then we are in position to win and OC decides to run it. It was just our UCONN game. Hopefully just early WTH game but we have more units that need improvement than not.

RE: UCF Fans: The sky is not falling. - CyberBull - 09-04-2015 02:29 PM

The sky has collapsed.

UCF's momentum and credibility took a huge hit last night.

The USF fan in me loves it.03-lmfao
The AAC fan in me hates UCF even more for making the conference look bad..03-banghead
The college football fan in me realizes that we are not giving FIU enough credit...03-idea
All together it's was a REALLY BAD LOSS for UCF, the AAC and USF b/c it will take some of the glory out of the beating them in November.07-coffee3

UCF Fans: The sky is not falling. - Sideshow2313 - 09-04-2015 02:40 PM

It will make beating USF sweeter knowing FIU would destroy them. I just hope USF gets past FAMU they need 5 upsets to have skin in game.

This will be a season long melt down and probably not the only bad loss we will have. Which will of course, be quickly followed by talk of wait until 2016.

Nah. Yall will be back being hubristic arses as soon as you win a game. I'm predicting a win over Stanford the yall be a playoff team again

Fiu loss excuses start trickling in by Sunday

Lol

I hope Stanford thinks UCF is a gimme game and sleeps on us. UCF typically plays up or down the the level of competition it faces. Lets just hope that was the case yesterday.
