A Sunbelt press conference on Tuesday will announce the addition of Coastal Carolina. Looks like they beat out Eastern Kentucky for ge slot.

Good

And what does this mean for CUSA?

Well, with some quick scheduling it might mean some OOC FBS wins for at least a couple of years.

Coastal is already better than the bottom third of each of the G5 leagues.

This is a tough blow for Charlotte. There was no G5 option in SC prior to this.

Coastals head coach is a billionaire former CEO of Ameritrade.

Glad to have the Chanticleers join us, though

And is still the active chairman of the board.

Ccu apparently committed to expanding to 26,000 in time for their first sbc season.

should CUSA eventually have a team leave, CC would be an interesting name to watch

CCU's coach Moglia is a really interesting guy, and the story of him getting the head coaching job is, for lack of a better term, unique. Myrtle Beach location and committment to stadium expansion, decent BB, and they look to be a great addition for the Belt.

I do feel for our James Madison brethren, as an admistration that literally could not close a deal on the table has squandered the opportunity to move up - for a proud program and a solid fanbase. Not a happy evening in Harrisonburg, for sure.

How would CC in SC matter much to Charlotte being in NC?

The real thing is you got

NC: Charlotte, App St, ECU, UNC, Duke, NCSU, Wake
SC: CC (now), Clemson, South Carolina

ALL VYING for recruits and then the approaching VA area schools in the mix too...

Marshall has had numbers close to theirs this decade.

CC is going to upgrade their stadium and it sounds like their HC can fund it all himself

Good add for the Belt and would be a good away trip for Monarchs and Niners fans for an OOC game. Very solid soccer and baseball. Currently a top FCS team and I think they'll hold their own in the belt pretty early. Basketball's decent several recent trips to the NCAA's but that's playing in the Big South. Still I think they'll do well in the Sun Belt. Congrats Chanticleers!

Guess we better tell Rice they are too small, as well.

Its good to see the Sun Belt having some success. It would be bad news for them to flounder and die.

From what I've read from their fans on the SB board, he's said he won't make a sizable donation to the program while he's coaching there but has indicated he'll show his appreciation when he leaves.

I think they'll struggle wit attendance for a while but have potential to do well in the long run.

I didn't know ccu was an elite institution with a multi billion dollar endowment.

You cannot compare private institutions to public ones.

I think long term this is a good add for the SBC. Congrats Chants, welcome to the FBS.

ccu has ~9300 students. Marshall hasn't been that small in decades
