How's that Republican Autopsy from 2012 working out for the GOP? - Machiavelli - 08-27-2015 07:29 PM

Any liberal that comments on a Planned Parent cuts the hearts out of babies thread or worries about a Trump going after anchor babies needs their head examined. This absolutely positively could not be happening at a better time for us. Encourage these threads. Give them an Atta Boy. Whoever escapes from the GOP primary WILL NOT be able to win a general election. Hillary could be caught red handed and most likely is and she will still win the general election in a landslide against the current crop. This planned parenthood controversy is EXACTLY the type of controversy you want. It is only going to entrench positions and it's going to make the GOP standard bearer unelectable. Defunding Planned Parenthood will play well with the Red State crowds but will kill them in key demographics. My advice RWT and UCF08 is to encourage these threads. It's arsenic for the GOP nominee.

Stop fighting them. Encourage them!

Yeah, trustworthiness doesn't hurt in the general.

Planned Parenthood is a loser for the liberals. They're like Jim Bakker was in televangelism.

62% of people don't want to see PP de funded but I see your point. Good Luck with the optics of shutting it down. It's especially going to play well with women. Nice election strategy.

Nobody is shutting PP down. They just don't want to subsidize it anymore.

Why I say republicans are the stupid party.
Stupid party versus evil party.

Oh, I think all the establishment candidates get it...

But

The can't do anything so long as the monster of a racist, homophobic, misogynist, angry, and plutocratic tea party that they created has gone off the reservation.

By the time January comes along, the GOP will have completely p*ssed off the African Americans, most Women, Gay people and those that don't hate them, Hispanic Americans, Asian Americans, and people who aren't Wall Street supporters....And its likely going to be very difficult for them to walk it back.

Everyone is wondering why the establishment candidates don't go after Trump. They all say "because we don't want to go into the gutter with him or don't want to raise him up'. That's BS. They aren't going after Trump because they haven't figured out how to go after him without 1) pandering to his voters by co-opting his agenda thus making a general election victory impossible or 2) p*ssing off the tea party voters that are supporting Trump.

But someone better make the case against Trump soon. Because the amount of wrangling that will need to take place to unseat him is going to get harder - not easier - as time goes on.

I thought the worst thing the GOP could do would be to have a ton of debates. That actually is what they need now. Too bad they made the wrong decision on that too.

Republicans control the Congress

Republicans have gained 910 state legislative seats obama was elected

31 state governors are republican

Enjoy the illusion that the Democrats are in control

Astonishing

Republicans got less votes for Congress than the Dems in 2010, 2012 and 2014.

Many of the legislatures are heavily gerrymandered in favor of the GOP, so those elections aren't representative of a general election.

The Dems will probably retain the Presidency and retake the Senate.

---

General Elections have the highest turnout. And are the most representative of the voters will. And the Democrats have won the popular vote in all every Presidential election except one...since 1988.

---

The courts are finally starting to strike down some of the worst gerrymanders and some of the GOP off year governments are turning out to be very unpopular.

The TEA Party is none of those things--except perhaps angry, but angry at establishment republicans as much as democrats.

The TEA Party is a one-issue movement--Taxed Enough Already. Anything else is not a TEA Party issue, and none of those things have anything to do with Taxed Enough Already.

What you're talking about is not the TEA Party, but establishment republicans who have co-opted the name because for a while there it was the only thing republicans had going for them. I would call them tea baggers, which is doubly appropriate as a reference to carpetbaggers.

You're right, though, in that the things you listed will keep republicans from winning national elections. And that means another socialist/communist in the white house.

Tea party, establishment nor run of the mill Republicans are any of those things.

I don't want to see PP defunded. I want them barred from performing abortions. They are vital part of the community and they shouldn't fall out. They just need to get out of the abortion business.

Many of the legislatures are gerrymandered in favor of Democrats as well, like the most populous state, California. Democrats are concentrated in cities. That's why they can be so delusional. They tend to be packed like sardines in limited space and don't see anyone outside the can. They think fundamentalist Christians are some tiny minority when they are 25-30% of the population. They don't understand in the least what the Tea Party is about (primarily since they don't know history either).

F*ck this way of thinking. Seriously, f*ck it. I want two parties presenting rational arguments and giving me a choice to make. Sitting by and laughing at the other party for lying and intentionally misrepresenting the actual purpose of Planned Parenthood because it helps you politically is as offensive to me as lying about them in the first place.

This isn't a game, this isn't a contest, and I'm not rooting against the Republicans like I root against USF. This is our society we're talking about, the people who believe this stuff are actual citizens who matter and who shouldn't be taken advantage of the way that they are.

Such a dangerous line of thinking you're celebrating here Mach.

The worst gerrymanders are the ones the Democrats have done. You need to quit crying those crocodile tears.

And Barack Obama won the popular vote two times in a row. He is the only Democrat since 1964 to get over 50% of the vote. Clinton got help from Perot in 1992 and 1996.
