SMU vs Baylor - NBPirate - 08-25-2015 03:21 PM

SMU fans and others. Is there any chance whatsoever that the Mustangs keep this one close? I'll be in Dallas on business next week and thought about going.

Come and hang out. Baylor will have an exciting game

Briles has been getting a lot of neg pub lately... And in his career he has had his share of bad losses too

RE: SMU vs Baylor - pesik - 08-25-2015 05:39 PM

all plausible sense is no ...
but its not impossible

baylor/art briles are without OC Montgomery for the first time since he joined college a decade ago
baylor is playing a new qb in a pass reliant offense, theyve never had trouble switching qbs before but again its Briles first time without their qb coach

Smu is playing a 4/5 star qb (matt davis) who has supposedly been dominant in camp who started for them last year..and won the job in spring (keep in mind most horrific teams that have a new coach normally have deep qb competitions, smu even brought in a 4star freshmen who was supposedly going to be the guy (ben hicks))..and something to note is that davis only joined smu's camp late last year after transferring late from a&m and was only given legit reps at qb at something like 0-6 after the team had already quit

smu also adds a clemsons OC as coach who regularly produced top 15 teams, and made a true freshmen look like a super star last year (deshaun watson)

the scenario that is extremely unlikely but not impossible with a ton a shifting pieces:

1)baylor struggles badly adjusting to a new qb and a new OC

2) matt davis is actually extremely legit and what we saw last year was mix of joining a team super late, with no playing experience and playing for a team that had already quit

3) Morris is an amazing developer and coach and implements a system for them to succeed immediately

not impossible but not likley

current line is 34. Briles doesn't step off the gas like Patterson at TCU does

This is going to be ugly. Briles will come out firing.....

I'd attend the game just to see a preseason Top 5 team.

WE play 2 top 5 teams in 3 weeks

I just remembered you serve alcohol in the stadium. It's looking more likely I'll be in attendance.

THere will be cold beer. We will see running backs that run and tight ends for the first time in 7 years. We have already won, emotionally.

RE: SMU vs Baylor - NothingButKnight - 08-25-2015 10:44 PM

Baylor by 50+. I see this being their usual early 66-7 games.

RE: SMU vs Baylor - Carolina Stang - 08-26-2015 10:35 AM

I'll be there all the way from North Carolina

RE: SMU vs Baylor - BigHouston - 08-26-2015 05:38 PM

You all give baylor to much credit... Baylor's defense is mediocre, only thing keeping them in games is their offense but with SMU displaying a similar style offense I think we're going to witness a high scoring game from these two programs.

You're giving June Jones' recruiting too much credit. Chad Morris will have an offensive clue but not enough talent to do much.

NBPirate, if you do decide to come to the game, be advised that SMU has adoped a clear-bag policy (like NFL stadiums) this year because we want to make it as difficult as possible to build a fan base.

RE: SMU vs Baylor - Pony94 - 08-26-2015 05:50 PM

Oh my god a clear bag policy is the end of the world boo hoo hoo

Doesn't affect me at all but when we already have trouble with butts-in-seats, why give people another excuse?

RE: SMU vs Baylor - Carolina Stang - 08-27-2015 12:10 PM

It just gave my wife an excuse to buy a clear purse

RE: SMU vs Baylor - NBPirate - 08-27-2015 12:15 PM

The clear bag policy won't affect me too much. Airplane bottles can be concealed in many other ways.
