Former Marshall player and coach, and current Charlotte coach - Phil Ratliff is in a Charlotte hospital after having a massive heart attack. If you are of the mindset, please pray for he and his family for a full recovery.

My wife taught with Jenny here in WV before they moved. My youngest daughter was in class with their son.

It really is sad. He is such a good man. Loves working with the kids and is full of passion. Has a wonderful family.

My father was in his mid-50's when he had his first heart attack, but I was about the same age has Coach Ratliff's kids when it happened. Scary stuff for a high school kid.

I just spoke to one of his ex-teammates and best friends. The doctors don't believe it was a heart attack, have run several tests, but still haven't figured out exactly what happened. He's not in good shape, but Phil is a fighter and a strong guy. For those that haven't had the pleasure of talking to Phil, I can't stress what a nice and genuine human being he is. He'd give the shirt off his back to a stranger.

My wife got a text from Jenny this morning saying there is no damage to the heart and they will now start to access any brain damage. He has a long road to go. Continue to pray for a full recovery. Wondering if it was a stroke?

Sounds like a stroke. My younger brother just had 2 of them in 3 days. Now living with our mom while he fights to get on SS disability. If it was a stroke and severe as it sounds like, his coaching days may be behind him. Just hope he can recover enough to live a decent life.

A heart attack has been ruled out, they are thinking it was a heart arrhythmia.

He had a heart procedure done years ago and was on heart medication. One wonders.

Just seeing and hearing about something like this scares me to death. Im only 6 months younger than Ratliff is. Truth is you never know when something may happen to you or a family member.

Any of the Charlotte folks hearing anything about Phil and his condition? Are things getting better?
