RE: Paul Myerberg talks G5 ... - Dawgxas - 08-01-2015 10:40 AM

What was said about CUSA?

RE: Paul Myerberg talks G5 ... - FlyHawk98 - 08-01-2015 10:56 AM

I'm only 5 minutes in right now but he just said that the Sun Belt has no shot at the Access spot, and he named the 5 teams with the best chance of getting the spot.

Boise
Cincy
WKU
Marshall

Can't remember who the other one was.

RE: Paul Myerberg talks G5 ... - FlyHawk98 - 08-01-2015 11:02 AM

11:30-13:20

is where is talks about La Tech.

RE: Paul Myerberg talks G5 ... - FlyHawk98 - 08-01-2015 11:06 AM

23:40 starts talking about WKU.

RE: Paul Myerberg talks G5 ... - FlyHawk98 - 08-01-2015 11:15 AM

38:30 it starts talking about Doc Holliday and possibility to get scooped up by bigger programs.

RE: Paul Myerberg talks G5 ... - FlyHawk98 - 08-01-2015 11:18 AM

So they have basically just sucked off Boise the whole time.....saying they have a legit shot at a Top 4 playoff spot.

Unless someone from the SB comes over and interjects themselves, is anyone surprised...

Ive said this before and I'll say it again, probably before football season. Doc is now 58 and has finally turned Marshall's roster around. He is now making 755K a year. Does he really want to go to a Puredue, Wake Forest ect for 1.5-1.7 million only to take 5 more years to turn another roster around, and would he even get 5 years to do it.

Would you leave your job for two, or three, or four times the salary?

Yes.

If any decent school that can pay a couple mil a year comes calling, Doc will answer. And we should thank him and pat him on the back for getting us back to be a releveant program again, and hire someone that can build on it, that hopefully gets hired away as well 4 or 5 years down the road.

No, I would not. $755,000.00 a year is an outstanding salary. The greed of money ruins people. When is enough..........enough? How much money does a person need? My goal is to retire at what society considers a young age and enjoy the rest of my life.

If I am making more than 99% of the population and I enjoy my job, why would I look for other employment?

LOL....no not at all.

I couldn't remember because you are irrelevant.

Last years bowl game proved that along with this years pre-season rankings.

RE: Paul Myerberg talks G5 ... - T_Won1 - 08-01-2015 06:31 PM

I wanted to hear his reasoning behind Tech not being able to hang with WKU and Marshall but he never gave it. Losing Manny Diaz is all I can think of as a possibility??

Ive had that decision to make before and I stayed. Why, because just like the job Holliday would take he would more than likely not be able to see his vision followed through. The 3 pervious people in that spot was let go within 2 years of taking the job.

Because after 2-3 years with a mid level/low level P5 school if you have just got most your players in place. But you aren't winning, more than likely you will be fired. It took 3 years of recruiting and 4 years of coaching to get Marshall back on the right track. You don't usually get 5 or 6 years at a low level/mid level P5 to turn them around. Three is usually the most you get.

Give us a little time. First year with far,far less than 85 scholarships was a smashing success and our recruiting is first in the SBC and CUSA right now per 247, so I like our chances.

I know Marshall fans remember those 4 national titles for GS vs 2 for Marshall when we were both FCS at the same time. 04-cheers

Now, if we could only get that AD of yours to listen to the Playoff committee, quit scheduling bottom of the barrell MAC teams and pick up the phone when the GS AD calls! 04-cheers :)

You have to be kidding. Our recruiting class last year was first in CUSA with total score of 160.5. I just looked. You guys were second in the SBC at an average score of 120. That score would place you near the bottom of CUSA. If you are implying your recruiting is superior this year, it's August. Lol!
