People can say all they want about what the Stars and Bars represents but it really just comes down, in its simplest form, to a sector of the US that felt justified in enslaving a group of people. It turns my stomach when folks say we should honor that flag as a symbol of the Confederacy. Honor what? Slavery?

Pretty much my opinion.

Also not to cast a wide stereotype net here, but the majority of people who wave this flag are not exactly the type of people I would hang out with anyway.

On vacation in Pacific Beach, California, and wearing Tribe hat. In line in store, guy says didn't the Steelers coach go there? I said yes, and he said that is probably the best known alum? I then mentioned Thomas Jefferson. The guy was shocked. My wife gave me the " you pompous ass" look

She did not.

I did leave it at one President.

Jealousy of W&M runs amok - even in our own families. I avoided that by marrying a fellow Tribe grad, and then both of our children attended W&M, too. No divided loyalties here !!!

I hear you. Wife is a JMU alum, though she supports Tribe sports. She used to babysit for Shaver back in his HS days, so she pulls for his team.
