Ive seen them twice at Bluegrass festivals. People seem to appreciate their brand of music. I think they started at App. State.

Yes the original members met at the Black Banjo Players Convention at ASU. Their mentor was the late Joe Thompson from over around Mebane and they are based out of Greensboro where Rhainnan Gibbons is from.

The CCDs aren't a novelty act. They are one of the most creative groups out there and are playing a very eclectic mix of music based in old time string band music of the South. String band music wasn't defined by race. They are doing a HW song because of the quality of the material.
