Tom Bowen and Dr. Rudd's Guest Column Today (7/5/15) - Gray Avenger - 07-05-2015 10:12 AM

Excellent, upbeat guest column today in the CA by our AD and president concerning the need for affiliation with a "Power" conference, why UofM deserves it and what we can/should do. The last paragraph says:

"Buying season tickets, in basketball and football in particular, is a profound and effective way of making a difference. As is evident, the costs are significant and the playing field increasingly uneven. We are optimistic about the future of Tiger athletics and about the future of our university."

It is an excellent column and it is very encouraging for these two leaders to be openly addressing the issue. Every Tiger fan, no matter how wealthy or poor can do SOMETHING to help and for the sake of our university and surrounding community had better do as much as we can.

It is time for a lot of people to put up or shut up. The way we get into a better conference is to have people in the stands at games.

03-hissyfit Fantastic article that I wanted to comment about in the stupid commercial appeal. Of course they limit the only way to comment is with a facebook page. I can neither comment in favor of the articles they publish or against articles they publish without having facebook. They used to allow just an email response to articles but I suppose they had way too many people objecting to some of them so they decided to censor them by discontinueing the ease that you could do it with and making it more difficult to complain. I do not have and will not have facebook and will not allow them to try and force me to do so. I advised them of my discontent but of course there was no reply from them.

Saw the column. For those who might be looking for it in the paper edition it was a 'guest' submission located in the Metro section or something like that. The importance, during this period, of 'support' through ticket purchases was mention by Rudd on the radio just last week.

That is on the web subscription anyway.

Well....maybe the CA will write an article about FB Tix sales to date and show some trend lines over last 10yrs? Would be cool if they got behind our Tigers and got the casual fans excited about this season.

I'd like a football sports writer like UCF's. A true advocate of the program --- and workin hard at it.

"Even with a disappointing year in basketball, our men's program is one of the best in the nation and is poised for success in 2015-2016, and our women are improving and close to returning to postseason play."

I wholeheartedly agree with buying season tickets. They are quite reasonable still.

But for those who simply cannot afford them because of any number of extenuating circumstances, please come out and either get one FREE from someone on Tiger Lane (people are always giving them away), or pay a street person $5 at game time. Parking is plentiful and FREE right across from Tiger Lane in the neighborhoods off Parkway. Eat before you come to the game. No excuse about the cost of the game. Just get your butts in seats!

Just the way the question was asked. It's apparent most of us here would like to know the progress on season ticket sales - but apparently no one seems to know.
