Hoops odds and ends (mostly non-EMU) - emu steve - 06-03-2015 04:20 AM

UB continues to lose players in significant quantities as Mr. H(urley) continues to mine UB for hoop talent.

The latest is this highly regarded player featured in the Buffalo website who will go to ASU instead of UB.

Is this the 3rd or 4th significant loss for UB after Mr. H leaves for the desert?

EDIT: Evans, Bearden, and two highly regarded JUCO prospects. Ouch!!!

There are some strong MAC teams which took big hits because of graduation or players leaving the program. UB is #1.

Second, Max Bielfeldt transfers from UofM to Indiana as a graduate eligible transfer.

B1G unsuccessfully tried to block this intra-conference graduate eligible action. B1G otherwise blocks intra-conference transfers.

Will we see more intra-conference player movement in D-I athletics? Graduate eligible? Transfers?

Unless I missed something, Bearden is still at Buffalo. That would be a devastating blow from them if he left.

You're right. I thought he was leaving but decided against it. Does that sound right?

Three MAC schools BUT PROBABLY MORE (per a poster on the main MAC board) will be going to ESPN3 (rather than local school webcasting) this upcoming season for basketball (I believe all home games at MAC FB stadiums are already ESPN3).

Hopefully that gets us to say 8 of 12 schools doing ESPN3 for home basketball games for 2015-16.

Wonder if the remaining schools will move over for 2016-17???

EDIT: ESPN3 is now a part of DirecTV. Previously it was not (I got my ESPN3 through my ISP - Internet package).

Nice post on the move of MAC schools from their webcasts to ESPN-quality productions on ESPN3.

Three schools upgraded last year. Three or more this year.
