Eh, nothing new to us down here... We just seize the opportunity with our tubes and coolers of beer.

I guess they've never heard of water moccasins. Canoe? Sure. Tubes? Not advised. 01-wingedeagle

I would be more worried about all the pollution from oil and gas from cars than the odd snake floating around flooded waters.

The Blanco River went 10 feet over its previous record. Over 400 Holmes flooded, multiple apartments, and Walmart. The water even went over I-35.

The San Marcos River went over Aquarena but not much more than that from what I've heard.

There's bad flooding throughout the state.

I was referring to all the accumulated pollution from a drop of oil here or a drop of gas there since the last time it was all washed away in a good heavy rain. Those drops add up to be a considerable amount.

Being Texas I expect every car to burn some fossil fuels.

We in Texas worry not about snakes. They know better than to mess with us.

I doubt it would amount the the amount I get on my hands at fill ups and oil dip stick checking.

I was thinking more about the possibility they get swept under a car by the current.

The flooding isn't THAT bad in San Marcos.

20 minutes away in Wimberley or Blanco? Yeah, that's a legit concern. But not so much around town.

RE: Flooding in San Marcos, TX... - CatMom - 05-24-2015 10:17 PM

1 dead, 3 missing, 400 homes destroyed or ruined. Some of our football guys had to grab and run. I know a senior DT that had to get out and ended up without shoes. Was interviewed by some radio or TV station.

RE: Flooding in San Marcos, TX... - CatMom - 05-24-2015 10:54 PM

One family was swept away. Father was found and is in ICU. Mother and 2 children still missing. Family name is McComb. Don't know if they're related to THE McCombs, or not. Many of the houses that were destroyed were in SM so to say it wasn't that bad right there is not right. At exit 206 that water was up to the bottom of IH35. I'd say that's significant. The Blanco went over I35. Yeah, just a little high and it's San Marcos.

Texas and Oklahoma: 3 dead after record rains unleash dangerous flooding

That said, yes, Wimberley got the brunt.

Prayers, prayers, prayers!
