Gary is typically spot on with this stuff. I'd expect the seniors at Iowa St to stay but others to start transferring. Iowa St is going to be starting 4 seniors next year. Destin should be interesting.

Thibs is out. Fred is on the clock.

He clearly established an identity for the team, and the guys bought into it. Nearly every season was knocked off by injuries, too. I've read here and there that the main reason really boiled down to a rift with the front office.

It's definitely easier to let a guy go and try something new after seeing what's going down at Golden State and Memphis, though.

Couldn't beat LeBron.

RE: Hoiberg to Bulls? - The Answer UAB - 05-28-2015 12:42 PM

Couldn't beat Lebron, never developed any kind of consistent offense whatsoever, played a short rotation major minutes, likely causing new or worsened injuries to key players..

Hoiberg is really more a pro guy, I think it's about 80% he goes. The whining and crying at ISU should reach a crescendo soon.

Someone on an ISU message board brought up Coach Haase's name as a potential replacement for Hoiberg. The following posts regarding Coach Haase were comical.

"Please no to Drew and Haase."
"Could you imagine if Haase came? Dear lord."
"Haas and Manning better not ever step foot on and ISU campus. **** them and their Kansas roots all to hell!!!"
"Haase won one ******* game."
"Are you ******* kidding me? That's the worst option on the list."

That's fantastic.

I've really changed my mind on haase after this postseason, where beforehand I was admittedly somewhat apprehensive about him and his results to that point. However, I still think it's a little too early for big time schools like this to consider him seriously as a candidates. If we have the year we are set up to have this season, expect him to be a VERY hot coaching commodity. If he leaves us after a good year, I can't blame him with the way things are going UAB right now...

While I think it's way too early, I don't know that if call ISU a big time school (when it comes to athletics)

RE: Hoiberg to Bulls? - Hopeful - 05-28-2015 02:46 PM

Haha, it's nothing personal against him I'm sure. There's just a measure of distaste associated with bringing on a guy with deep roots to a big rival. A couple of more years with good runs then I'm sure plenty of people will be buying some of that stock, but there are just safer options that didn't just eliminate you.

While I don't really know about that list, I believe they should look to make a White kind of move over an Avery kind of move if the coach does end up leaving.

It's not. It's a decent basketball school, but it's not big time. There aren't many big time jobs out there though. If Haase can create a force at UAB and wait for Kansas or UNC to open up, he may just do that. There is a reason most power 5 jobs open up, and it's not normally because they are in great shape moving forward. Going to an Iowa state or Tennessee or Iowa or any second tier basketball school carries some amount of risk. The fans expect more than what the ceiling is. Btw I am not saying Haase would even be a candidate for any of these jobs-I don't want my words to get twisted.

Iowa State was second in the Big Twelve in basketball. That's solid. No, it's not UNC or KU, but I imagine that they will be a preseason Top Ten pick unless losing their coach hurts them.

Yes, they've been very good lately. And yes, they've been good at times in the past. Historically, not good.
I spent a lot of time reviewing their historical data prior to the NCAA tournament (as I needed all the possible ammunition I could get for the onslaught of local smack talk).
Having lived in Iowa for nearly 9 years, I was still surprised at how unimpressive their basketball history is

Why would you think anyone on Blazertalk would twist your words?

A lot may change at UAB based upon the results of decisions made June 1st (announced @ UAB) and June 5th (@ C-USA) about the coming fall season in UAB sports. Most UAB fans are just along for the ride, but we can pray for the best outcomes.
