Only saw WKU one time, Sunday game against Southern Miss that was televised, but looked like you had some talent. The only team to hit McMahon harder was FAU.
Lost a lot of close games on their way to a 3-10 finish. Hope you hire a good one. We need WKU winning to help make CUSA a stronger baseball conference.

We had good NCAA runs in 2008 and 2009.Beat Ole Miss once in the regional and lost to them in the reg. final in a close one.President Ransdell is a big supporter of baseball and even does "color" on the radio broadcasts occasionally.Chris Finwood was at WKU before OLD DOMINION and the fired coach was his asst..

Time for a fresh start!

Go C-USA baseball!!!

Bottom line you can not recruit local talent in BG and surrounding areas and have that make up almost half of your team...Kentucky has some baseball talent, but not enough to have 20 players on the roster year in year out...I would think that was one of the major issues when it came down to it...Also pitching was always very weak under this guy.....Anxious to see who we hire as no one seems to have a clue of any names that would be possibly hired...

matt is a great guy. his record as a previous head coach led me to believe he could be successful here. i also didn't love him recruiting all the local kids and i love our local baseball.

i'm not trying to give him an out but his wife has been battling cancer since matt has been coaching here. last i heard it was back. i don't know that for fact. i know them personally because i coached his son when he was 7 and 8 years old. he'll be a stud someday. i hate cancer having lost a brother to it when he was only 35. everyone gets touched by it and it always sucks.

i wish him and his family the best in whatever the future holds.

this is a classic example why nobody can ever ***** when a coach at our level takes a higher level job. screw loyalty. because if you start losing you will be gone. you have to jump at the best money for your family every single time.

That sucks and probably understand now why he may not could have recruited the way he wanted to with his wife being as sick as she is....

Wish the best for the guy, don't know him personally like you do but I am sure he will land on his feet somewhere as an assistant again...He has already proven he can be a top notch assistant, may just not be able to take the time and energy to be head coach at this time with his wife's battling cancer...
