The article says:

Quote:UAB hit pause on contract discussions after killing its football program in the fall. Conference USA requires its teams to field a football team to maintain affiliation.

Really? Do tell.

The article linked to is last week's "C-USA is expected to" article. I guess it's a pretty firm expected to but not yet announced policy.

But, but, but... it's not appropriate to speculate!

Someone had to say it.

This sounds good to me

Outstanding - a great series with an in-state rival (minus the hate)

RE: UAB vs. Auburn - BandGrad - 05-12-2015 09:03 AM

I'd rather play both games that are in Birmingham at Bartow Arena.

RE: UAB vs. Auburn - ATTALLABLAZE - 05-12-2015 09:13 AM

The big sticking point was Pearl wanted no part of Bartow and wanted half the gate at the BJCC. Not Watts dropping football or conference affiliation. I think the compromise will be one in Bartow on in BJCC and the two return games in their house. Perl won't get half the gate. I can live with that. Maybe both will be at BJCC but I am hoping we get one in Bartow. They need us more than we need them.

Wow. In what way? Surely you aren't talking about home basketball schedules because we are the poorest of the poor in that department. We are approaching a full decade of home schedule garbage since the mass exodus from CUSA.

A full decade?
North Carolina.
Butler
VCU
LSU
#1 Memphis
Oklahoma State

All within the past ten years.

It takes two teams to make a schedule.

Right... That is like 8 teams in 8 years. Auburn usually gets at least 4 decent opponents per year at home. My post was in response to the "Auburn needs us more than we need them." Considering our chances for a quality RPI win end each year on 12/31 I'd say that's ridiculous.

We're probably looking for a new conference within the near future. I'm sure our new AD would like your input on which conference will increase our strength of schedule. All we need to do is decide which one and then call them up and let them know we will be joining.

As for as OOC, please let him know which schools will be need to be scheduling. He can then call those schools and tell them when and where to show up.

It's that easy.

RE: UAB vs. Auburn - blazers9911 - 05-12-2015 04:06 PM

We played 8 top 150 games OOC this year. We lost all 8. Our OOC schedule was not an issue.

I don't think either team really needs the other. This is mutually beneficial for both. I dont understand this superiority complex some of our fans have. It's misplaced and reeks of Bammerism.

I'm glad you said it because I don't understand the need for the superiority complex either.

Nope. When's the last time we finished in the top 100. We are both programs on the rise. Makes sense to play a close opponent that will draw a good crowd.
