OT: NFL 1st Round Draft - LSUtah - 04-30-2015 10:47 PM

Summary of 1st round picks...

ACC 9
PAC 9
SEC 7
B1G 3
B12 2
G5 2

Interesting to see ACC and PAC ahead of SEC...also surprising to have B1G and Big 12 so low. G5 pics were from UCONN and UCF.

ACC always does well in draft picks. Always. It's second to the SEC in total draftees the last decade or so.

No. He's being smart. There are a couple of starting QBs in the NFL that are no better than Zach. He knows that his time in Tennessee is up. He doesn't want to become a CAREER backup - and to be honest, I don't know if having a QB that "doesn't mind backing up" is a good thing.

The point is to be quiet...when you are a 6th Round Pick and is winless as a NFL Starter you're in no position to demand anything...it is funny and stupid at the same time...03-lmfao...01-wingedeagle

Note: The rules don't always apply to you if you have money or talent.

A lot of people are upset about this, but I think he's fricking hilarious. He's trolling everyone at this point.

I thought that was great. There is no doubt this kid is highly intelligent. But "intelligent" doesn't always translate to "witty". This is an example of why NFL scouts were so high on his leadership ability as well as his talent. Nobody wants a timid quarterback.

B12 needs to show B1G who's boss by adding UCONN and UCF: 4 > 3

Does the number of first round picks really correlate with the talent level of a conference, or is it just a fun thing to talk about on a message board? I think it is more the latter, especially for the leagues with a lot of first round picks.

I'd go so far as to say it is entirely the latter. It's smack talk fodder. A far better measure is the total number of players drafted. Or better still, the number who actually make NFL rosters.

RE: OT: NFL 1st Round Draft - MplsBison - 05-01-2015 09:41 AM

No offense is intended, and I don't mean to halt the discussion, but it must be noted that the University of Washington had THREE defensive players taken in the first round, a DL, LB and Corner.

That from a team that went 8-6 last year. They played a weak non-conf and beat four unranked PAC teams to get eight wins, but lost to all five ranked PAC teams (including three at home) and then lost their bowl game to boot.

So in my opinion, trying to analyze conference strength based on draft picks or NFL success is complete bunk.

The only Big 12 schools with more active NFL players than UCONN and UCF are Oklahoma, Texas, and Oklahoma State. 07-coffee3

Everyone killed Michael Vick for having that attitude last year with the Jets.

IF the SEC has the most players drafted round 1, it means they have the most talent in the college football. If any other conference has more picks than the SEC, then it is just fun to talk about on a message board.

It does if you're the SEC.

RE: OT: NFL 1st Round Draft - dbackjon - 05-01-2015 12:53 PM

1st round by conference is overblown.

On the radio the other day, they were having fun pointing out that the Big 10 hasn't had a QB drafted in the first round since Kerry Collins in 1995.

But, since then, B1G QB's have won 6 Super Bowls (Brady, Brees, Wilson).
SEC has three (Manning Brothers)
Pac-12 has three (Elway, Rogers)
MAC has two (Rothliesburge)
C-USA, CAA, MVFC, WAC and ACC have one each.

NONE from Big 12, AAC, or Sun Belt

These totals mean nothing. Look how many players Pac12 member Washington had taken in the first round, and they weren't exactly world beaters.
