I had seen something similar over on the realignment board and thought it would be a fun discussion for Belt Fans:

Make your predictions about where the conference will be in the following years - (membership?, our standing among the G5? or your overall take on FBS)

2017 -

2020-

2027-

I'll get things started

2017 - NMSU & Idaho are given a 3 year extension and EKU is invited to join for the 2018 season. Olympics are divided into divisions with the EKU add. The Sun Belt is better than the MAC but still fighting it out with CUSA for the #3 G5 overall

2020 - Idaho is given the boot as UTA restarts football. 03-cloud9

Overall the Sun Belt is a middle of the pack G5 and consistently a team challenges for the New Years day bowl. In the greater FBS the NCAA creates a path for top FCS programs to move up as an independent and Liberty finally gets into the FBS club.

2027 - By 2027 the Sun Belt membership has been stable for many years and it shows as they continue to challenge most years for the New Years Day bowl game. Minor realignment has allowed CUSA to shrink to 12 members and ULL fans are still bitchin about Georgia Southern not playing them in 2014! 05-stirthepot

2017: Krazy Karl talks the Presidents into accepting Liberty.

UALR, StAte, Idaho, NMSU, ULM, ULL, USA, UTA, Troy, and TX ST break away from the Sun Belt and form their own conference. Mo. St. And JMU are immediately added to the new conference.

App, GS, GaSt, and Liberty all go Indy

Karl does for the Sun Belt what he did for the WAC

2020: Ga St invited to CUSA (Can you say market, Baby). . . . Due to scheduling issues GS goes back to FCS, as no FBS AD will give their AD a call. Due to the high cost of travel, App returns to the So Con where they can cheaply bus everywhere and not be bled dry by the high cost of travel. Liberty remains Indy.

Athletic directors and their presidents come to their senses and realize that the "marketz" strategy for expansion is stupid. The ban on new FBS conferences is lifted and the G5 becomes the G6.

Benson leaves Sunbelt and is Hillary's Vice Presidential running mate....conference becomes the top G5 conference with constantly in New Years day bowl and occasionally in the newly formulated 8 team playoff.....Liberty is still having threads on the SBC topic boards and by then Idaho has been annexed by Montana in a water rights War....and Tom Cruise is given a life time acting award at half time of our first SBC conference Championship Game between Troy (of course) and The University of Miami who was banished to the hinter land for too many hookers at their post game news conferences......and pre game warm ups and for too many applying for side line passes for medicinal reasons.. 01-wingedeagle
